Your Itinerary —
Day 1: Saigon – Arrival (-/-/-)
Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, our driver will transfer you to your hotel to leave luggage and relax. Overnight in Saigon.

After breakfast, meet your guide at 08.00 and enjoy a 2-hour-drive north-west of Saigon to Cu Chi tunnels, through urbanized areas and a typically lush southern Vietnamese countryside. The tunnel complex was dug in 1948 for the guerrillas to hide from French air and ground sweeps. It was also served as communication routes and food and weapon caches as well as hospitals and living quarters for guerrilla fighters throughout the American war. Visit the underground villages to better understand the tunnels’ history, life in the tunnels and the Vietnamese’s resilience during the combats. Return to the city centre for lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, visit Chinatown with Thien Hau Pagoda and the War Museum which presents a partial, but riveting, view of the American War, as it is known in Vietnam. Overnight in Saigon.
Day 3: Saigon visits – Mekong Delta/Ben Tre – Cao Dai Temple (B/L/-)
Have breakfast at your hotel then visit Reunification Palace, the former residence of the Indochina Governor-General and later President of the Republic of Southern Vietnam until the fall of Saigon in April 30, 1975. Continue to visit Notre Dame Cathedral (outside); Central Post Office and the last stop at the bustling Ben Thanh Market. Check-out then have lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, take a 2-hour drive to Ben Tre (located in the heart of Mekong Delta). Upon arrival, check-in your accommodation and relax a bit. After that, your guide and driver will pick you up and drive you (around 16:30-17:30) to a Cao Dai temple – a religion of which is a mixture of Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and Confucianism. Attend the fantastic prayer when the followers fill the hall wearing coloured robes, with their belief that both Buddha and Christian God exist as deities and Cao Dai is the third, highest deity. Overnight in Ben Tre.
After breakfast, check-out then take a boat trip on Ben Tre river – one of the tributaries of the Mekong river while sight-seeing. Our first stop is at brickwork to see how to make bricks traditionally by printing and baking. Continue to visit one of plenty of coconut processing workshops located along the canal. Return to the boat and go through natural scissors creeks to a village and see some local houses making sleeping mats and enjoying some fruits.
Take a motorized cart (tuk tuk) or bicycle on shady paths, pass by green rice fields and vegetable plains to be able to touch on real life and find out about tropical culture from locals. After lunch at a local restaurant, we take a rowing-boat along beautiful water palm creek before meeting up the motorized boat and transfer you back to the pier. Return to hotel to get your luggage then take the car to drive to Can Tho.
Arriving your hotel after a 2 hour drive, check-in hotel and free on your own. Overnight in Can Tho.
Day 5: Can Tho – Floating market – Handicraft Villages – Chau Doc (B/L/-)
Early morning cruise along the small and picturesque tributaries by motorboat, we will see the Cai Rang Floating Market – the busiest but nicest one with heaps of rowing boats. See the beautiful scenery and daily activities of the locals. Then you will go through a few villages to visit a rice shelling mill. Disembark at Ninh Kieu quay and continue to visit Ong pagoda and a local market.
Back to your hotel to check-out then continue your trip to Phong Dien, where you take the bike or car to visit the handicraft families such as blacksmith and Banh Hoi making (speciality of this region). Lunch at Ut Zdach's.
In the afternoon, take a car ride to Chau Doc and arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight in Chau Doc.
Breakfast at your hotel then visit Tra Su Cajuput Forest which is still an amazing sightseeing and lesser-known by mass tourism. When you first see the small canals covered with large-leaved plants you will not believe that one could walk on them until you try stepping on a leaf.
As it is also a bird sanctuary, you can see many kinds of birds as well as hear them sing while taking a rowing boat between the narrow green canals. Covering approximately 850 hectares, Tra Su is home to 70 bird species and 140 plant species.
Return to Chau Doc and have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, the tour continues with a boat ride to some floating fish farms and a village of the Cham minority where the traditional weaving is still the major trade. Last stop at a local mosque then back to the hotel to relax.
Overnight in Chau Doc.
Day 7: Chau Doc – Sa Dec – Saigon (B/L/-)
After breakfast, check-out and head back to Saigon. Stop on the way to visit Sa Dec – a charming and peaceful town which is known as a small "Venice" with many narrow canals, the walking streets crossing the beautiful old French houses and Chinese temples dating from the last century... Visit a local market and Trung Vuong primary school where Marguerite Duras – a famous French novelist (well known for ‘Un barrage contre le Pacifique’ and ‘L'Amant’ – The Lover) spent her childhood.
Have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue the car ride to Saigon. Arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon, check-in and free for the remainder of the day. Overnight in Saigon.
Day 8: Saigon – Departure (B/-/-)
Have breakfast at your hotel and free on your own until check-out time. Meet our driver at a good time to connect to your departure flight.
