After a long flight, you will arrive at Vietnam's nearly thousand-year-old capital – Hanoi. A guide will meet you at Noi Bai Airport and transfer you to the hotel in the city centre. If time permits, you will have the chance to enjoy a very special traditional Vietnamese massage session at the Sen Garden (this service has several stages and lasts about 2 hours). Afterwards, enjoy free time to relax and enjoy dinner in a local restaurant. will be affected and some visits may not take place. Overnight in Hanoi.
Please Note: For those who arrive later in the day, there will not be enough time to experience the massage on this day. This service will then be moved to the second day, however, this means your planned itinerary for Day 2.
Day 2: Hanoi (Breakfast and Lunch Included)
The day starts with a visit to the complex dedicated to Ho Chi Minh – the nation’s founder, containing Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum (viewed from outside on Mondays, Fridays and afternoons as closed), and housed on stilts. This complex also comprises the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origins date back to the foundation of the city. After that, visit Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature & Vietnam’s first university). Constructed in the 11th century, the gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a relaxing glimpse into Vietnam's past.
After lunch in a local restaurant, visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, which offers an insight into the 54 different ethnic groups of Vietnam. Then, discover the daily life of the Hanoian with a cyclo (rickshaws ride) or an electric car around the Old Quarter streets which were named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. Stop at Hoan Kiem Lake to learn about the legend of the lake and visit the Ngoc Son Temple before heading back to the hotel. Overnight in Hanoi.
After breakfast, for offers on the 4-star accommodation option, you will depart between 7h30 – 8h00. The driver of boat company’s shuttle bus will pick you up at your hotel then transfer to Ha Long. You arrive in Ha Long after 3h30 of road. For offers on the 5-star accommodation option, you will depart at 09h30 and will take a private car to Lan Ha bay. Arrival in Pha Got after 2h30 of road.
Lan Ha bay is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage, where thousands of spectacular limestone islets and grottoes rising from the clear emerald Gulf of Tonkin. Upon arrival, enjoy a welcome drink on board prior to your check-in. Lunch with fresh seafood will be served while the boat is cruising through many stone islets, floating villages, and small beaches. Visit a floating fishing village, talk and meet with local villagers prior to your swimming or enjoy free time on your own on the sundeck. Dinner will be ready at the time the boat anchors off at a quiet designated overnight area. Overnight on board in Ha Long Bay or in Lan Ha Bay.

Day 4: Ha Long Bay OR Lan Ha Bay - Hanoi or Hai Phong - Da Nang - Hoi An (Brunch Included)
Enjoy a Tai Chi class, available on the sundeck for early risers, before your breakfast is served while the boat continues cruising around Ha Long Bay or Lan Ha. Make the most of your surroundings while cruising through many islets. Return to your boat to cruise towards the wharf. Your vehicle will be ready awaiting your disembarkation at approximately 10.30 am for a direct transfer from Ha Long or 12.30 pm for a transfer from Lan Ha back to the airport in Hanoi or in Hai Phong for your flight to Da Nang. For the 4-star option, you will take the minibus from the boat company to return to Hanoi, then your private driver will pick you up and drive you to the airport for the flight to Da Nang. For the 5-star option, you will take the private car directly to Cat Bi airport (Hai Phong) or Noi Bai airport (Hanoi) (depending on availability) for the flight to Da Nang.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our guide and transferred to Hoi An town. Check in your hotel, relax and enjoy an overnight stay in Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An.
Take a guided walking tour around Hoi An's Ancient Town. Visit the Japanese covered bridge, the Chinese assembly hall, a typical Vietnamese merchant’s house, one of the city's interesting museums and the local market. There are numerous art galleries, souvenirs and tailor shops where you can get some express made-to-order clothes if you like. The next visit is to the home of a craftsman in the old streets. Here you’ll have a brief introduction to the history, shape and color of the lanterns as well as stages of making them. After that, you can make a lantern by your own, decorate, pack and keep it as a souvenir of your time in Hoi An.
After lunch in a local restaurant, visit the village of organic gardens and the fishing village of Tra Nhieu by bike or car according to your preference. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 6: Hoi An - Hue (Breakfast Included)
After breakfast, enjoy free time on your own to relax or discover Hoi An. In the afternoon, you will be driven to Hue. On the way there, you will cross the Hai Van Pass which offers a superb panorama of the central coastline and the beach of Lang Co – one of the most beautiful beaches of Vietnam – from its summit. You will also have the chance to visit a traditional fishing village. You will arrive in Hue after 3 hours’ drive, where you can check into the hotel and enjoy free time. Overnight in Hue.
In the morning, transfer to visit the Thanh Toan Bridge which attracts lots of tourists because of its old architecture and historical and cultural values. This tile-roofed bridge has been an inspiration to many local people and travellers, with its poems still being handed down or engraved right on the bridge. After that, head back to the city centre to visit the Imperial Citadel where Kings of Vietnam’s last feudal dynasty ruled from 1802 to 1945, including the Flag Tower, Nine Holy Cannons, Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, Nine Dynastic Urns, and the Forbidden Purple City.
After lunch at a local restaurant, take a car ride to the port where the cruise will take you upstream of the peaceful Perfume River (Huong River) to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda. Dating back from the year 1601, Thin Mu is home to many young people who want to try out and learn from life as a monk. We will then continue the boat trip to visit King Minh Mang Tomb, located on the left bank of the Huong River, which represents the perfect harmony between nature and architecture. Minh Mang King (1821–1840) boasted to have 64 princesses and 78 princes. On the way back, admire the beautiful landscapes and the sunset. The tour will end at your hotel. Overnight in Hue.
Day 8: Hue - Ho Chi Minh City (Breakfast Included)
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy free time until a transfer to the airport for a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, your guide and driver will pick you up then bring you to the hotel to check in and relax. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Enjoy a 2-hour-drive north-west of Ho Chi Minh City to the Cu Chi tunnels, through urbanised areas and typically lush southern Vietnamese countryside. The tunnel complex was dug in 1948 for the guerrillas to hide from French air and ground sweeps. It was also served as communication routes and food and weapon caches as well as hospitals and living quarters for guerrilla fighters throughout the American war. Visit the underground villages to better understand the tunnels’ history, life in the tunnels and the Vietnamese’s resilience during the combats. Return to the city centre for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Chinatown with Thien Hau Pagoda and Fito Traditional Medicine Museum. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
After around 2.5-hours-drive from bustling Ho Chi Minh City, you will arrive in Ben Tre. You will then board a cruise, a new boat with a design open on all sides to allow the river breezes to flow freely. As you're meandering down the Mekong, you'll have a chance to observe from the comfort of your cruise as it plays out on the riverbanks: the people, the stunning landscapes while your attentive crew serves cold drink and seasonal fruit. Take the cruise, where a short journey will drive you to the next attractions. Hop on the mainland, and pay a visit to see how local peel off coconut husk by simple tools.
Next is a tuk-tuk ride taking you to a local family making coconut-leaves-swobs. Meet our friendly host, and gain an insight into local traditional methods to make a swob. Continue with a relaxing bike ride on the lush and evergreen rural road. Cycle through peaceful villages, meet friendly & smiling locals saying hello and feel the tranquil scenes of rural life. Next is a rowing boat through the crisscross canals. Be relaxed while observing the slow pace of Mekong Delta life.
You then have a short walk on the narrow village lane to Mr. Ba’s family. His hospitable greetings and tasty local cake will make you feel that being at home. His family members will be happy to share you the local cake making procedure. Join them, and try to make one local cake on your own under their enthusiastic instruction. Enjoy tea with honey and dried coconut while chatting with them about their daily routine, the local culture, custom and why you don’t let a local fortune-teller tell you what is supposed to happen in the future.
Lunch is served with Mekong specialities at a local restaurant. Relax, enjoy the tranquil atmosphere before transferring to the pier where the waiting driver will take you, then transfer by road to Can Tho – the capital of the Mekong Delta. Overnight in Can Tho.
Enjoy an early morning cruise along the small and picturesque tributaries by motorboat, where we will see the Cai Rang Floating Market – the busiest but nicest one with heaps of rowing boats. See the beautiful scenery and daily activities of the locals. You will cross a few villages to visit a Rice Mill or the Ba Cong Garden. Disembark at Ninh Kieu wharf and visit the Ong pagoda and a local market. Continue your ride to Ho Chi Minh, stop en route to have lunch. Check in hotel and relax. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 12: Ho Chi Minh City - Departure (Breakfast Included)
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy free time on your own to relax until you transfer to the airport in a good time for the return flight.
Optional 3-night Extension in Cambodia —
When opting to add the 3-night extension in Cambodia, our members will fly from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap on Day 12 of their stay, before following the itinerary as seen below.
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy free time to relax until your transfer to the airport for a flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to explore the complex Angkor.
Banteay Srei
This red sandstone temple is one of Angkor’s most significant structures as its walls are decorated with elaborate carvings which have been preserved remarkably well. They provide an excellent into the Angkor civilization and their beliefs. It was built in the 10th century and was dedicated to the Hindu god – Shiva.
Banteay Samre
Dating from the same period as Angkor Wat, this temple was built by Suryavarman II. This temple is in a fairly healthy state of preservation due to some extensive renovation work. The area consists of a central temple with four wings, preceded by a hall and also accompanied by two libraries, the southern one remarkably well preserved. Overnight in Siem Reap.
After breakfast, you will start a very special and busy day as you will explore some of Angkor’s most beautiful temples. You will visit from the West Gate – undiscovered by mass tourists, before discovering the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century), the Bayon Temple – unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara, the Baphuon Temple: lying just to the north of Bayon, a pyramidal representation of mythical Mont Meru, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King.
You will continue to visit the fabulous Ta Prohm embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers. Ta Prohm was built in the 12th century. It’s a Buddhist temple dedicated to the mother of King Jayavarman VII.
In the afternoon, you will visit the famous temple: Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is a World Heritage Site since 1992, famous for its beauty and splendour. Angkor Wat features the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls and narrates stories from Hindu mythology. Afterwards, head back to the hotel to relax. Overnight in Siem Reap.
After breakfast, transfer to the pier of Tonle Sap Lake to take a motorboat trip to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the water level, you will arrive at this floating village after 30 minutes. Wander around to witness how the natives organised to live in harmony with this whim of the lake and visit the traditional pagoda. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, talk to the young bonzes then donate the school supplies bought on site to the children of the local school.
Embark in a flat-bottomed dugout to start your trip in the flooded forest. As you cruise along, you will easily find the fishponds installed around. Enjoy the fresh atmosphere at this ephemeral corner before returning to the village, where you take the boat back to the pier. Head back to the hotel, and relax on your own. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Please Note: The boat ride on the Tonle Sap is not recommended during the dry season (March to July) due to the lack of water. During this period, this tour can be replaced by the Cambodian campaign visit as below:
Take a Tuk Tuk to explore one of the local villages where you can see the daily activities of the locals. Take a walk around to meet shy but humble villagers. After that, transfer to visit a local market where you will discover an unknown mix of colours, smells and sounds as you walk through the small alleys and meet some of the friendliest Khmer people who sell and buy a variety of foods and household items. Have lunch in a local restaurant then ready for your afternoon tour.
