Hanoi
Day 1: Hanoi - Arrival
Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, welcome by your guide and transfer to your hotel in the city centre.
Note: check-in time is from 14:00. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi - Tours
Included: Breakfast and lunch
The day begins with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Complex (closed every Monday and Friday and every afternoon), the founder of the nation, containing Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum (outside), his stilt house and the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origins date back to the founding of the city.
Lunch at local restaurant.
After lunch, visit the Temple of Literature and Vietnam's first university, built in the 11th century, where the well-preserved gardens and architecture offer a relaxing glimpse into Vietnam's past.
Hanoi's messy and crazy old quarter still retains its unique architecture and the huge amount and diversity of products and daily life of its residents. This cyclo (rickshaw) ride gives you an exciting chance to have a deeper encounter with local life, outside of a normal tourist program.
Follow the most famous streets in the heart of the old quarter, then pass through dark and narrow alleys with a width suitable for only one average-sized Vietnamese.
End your trip with a walk around the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake, the "Lake of the Returned Sword", named after a magical sword once used by the most revered heroes to defeat the Chinese Ming Dynasty, then returned to the golden turtle God of the lake.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Ninh Binh - Ha Long Bay
Day 3: Hanoi - Ninh Binh - Hanoi
Included: Breakfast and lunch.
This morning after breakfast, enjoy a scenic 2-hour drive to Ninh Binh province. This is a spectacular landscape of limestone karting peaks steeped in valleys, some of which are submerged, and surrounded by dramatic cliffs.
Visit the ancient capital of Hoa Lu for a glimpse of Vietnam's first three centralised feudal states: the Dinh Dynasty, the Le Dynasty and the Ly Dynasty. While the ancient citadel has probably disappeared, the temples of the Dinh and Le dynasties still stand, surrounded by rice fields and mountains.
Continue your journey to Bich Dong which was awarded by a king as the "second most beautiful cave in Vietnam". The cave is decorated with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites of different shapes and colours. Climb up Ngu Nhac Son (Buddha Palm Mountain) to enjoy the panoramic view created by mountains, rivers, pagodas and temples.
Known as "Ha Long Bay on land", Tam Coc ("three caves" in Vietnamese) was formed by the Ngo Dong River flowing through a mountain. On arrival, a trained local rower will take you on a beautiful waterway lined with rice fields. Enjoy the spectacular view of the karst formation as you explore these caves amidst towering mountains. You will then enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
Disembark the boat and follow a village path to reach Thai Vi Temple. Enjoy the beautiful rural scenery as you pass through the endless rice fields and the mysterious cave with a sacred shrine inside.
Return to Ha Noi in the late afternoon. Arrive at your hotel at 17:00.
Please Note: March-April is the beginning of the rice growing season in Ninh Binh. The fields are greenest here in April and early May, turning golden in late May and early June when the harvest begins.
Walking distance from the drop-off point to Thai Vi temple: 200 metres, on a flat road.
You can choose to take a bicycle tour in the Tam Coc-Bich Dong area (7 km, flat and easy road). The bike can be rented on site for an extra charge of about 3 USD per bike.
You have to climb 150-250 steps to explore the Bich Dong cave and pagoda.
Day 4: Hanoi - Ha Long Bay. Overnight on a luxury cruise.
Included: Breakfast and lunch.
Enjoy a delicious Breakfast at your hotel. Between 8:00am and 8:45am, the driver will pick you up at your hotel lobby. You will travel in a comfortable limousine shuttle (without guide) from Ha Noi to Ha Long Bay, a World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, you will embark on one of the most luxurious cruises in the bay. Savour a welcome drink, check in your cabin and have lunch while the boat slowly sails to the bay (Ha Long Bay or Lan Ha Bay). Marvel at rock formations and discover the beauty of the bay through a range of fascinating excursions.
Dinner on board. In the evening, night fishing service is available on request. Overnight on board.

In the morning, watch the sunrise and practice Tai Chi on the deck. You will pass by several rocks and islets, caves and fish villages.
Disembarkation of the boat is scheduled between 10:30 and 11:00. You will then transfer to Noi Bai airport for flight to Saigon. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time to relax.
Overnight in Saigon.
Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon)
Day 6: Ho Chi Minh City
Included: Breakfast and lunch.
Formally known as "Saigon" before 1975, , Ho Chi Minh City today is Vietnam’s commercial centre that never sleeps. Leave with your guide for a half-day excursion to see some of the city's important sites. Visit the War Remnants Museum which presents a partial but vivid view of the American war through the eyes of the Vietnamese. (Please note that some of the exhibits are very graphic and sensitive).
Head to one of the city's most important historical sites, the Reunification Palace, former residence of the Governor General of Indochina and then President of the Republic of South Vietnam until its fall on 30 April 1975. Stroll through the Palace and admire its incredible architectural work while learning from your guide about the untold stories of the great changes in Ho Chi Minh City's history.
A short drive or walk away is one of Ho Chi Min's most historic sites, Notre Dame Cathedral, a red brick building with two spires, based on the original construction in Paris. Then cross the square to the Central Post Office, designed by French architect Gustav Eiffel, before he became famous with the Eiffel Tower.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, head to the bustling Chinatown, known locally as Cho Lon, with its colourful atmosphere and mysterious temples. Visit the bustling Thien Hau Temple. Wander the narrow streets to admire the Chinese architecture through local houses, pagodas and temples, and explore the sights and sounds of Chinatown.
Return to the city centre and stop at Ben Thanh Market to shop and discover your bargaining power. You'll leave with some unusual items that will always remind you of this exciting day.
