Your Itinerary —

This is a wonderful morning tour that encompasses all the important attractions of Hanoi. The first stop will be at the HoChi Minh Mausoleum; in the tradition of Lenin, Stalin and Mao, the final resting place of Ho Chi Minh is a glass sarcophagus set deep in the bowels of a monumental edifice that has become a site of pilgrimage. Then you will continue walking through the beautiful botanical garden of the Presidential Palace to visit Uncle Ho’s humble house, the modest dwelling he built based on a rural Vietnamese stilt house and where Ho lived for the last years of his life.
Visit the OnePillar Pagoda, built of wood on a single stone pillar, it is designed to resemble a lotus blossom, a symbol of purity. Then you visit the Temple of Literature, the first university of Vietnam. This temple constitutes a rare example of well-preserved traditional Vietnamese architecture. Overnight in Hanoi.
This morning you are collected at around 8:00 for the three-hour-drive to Halong Bay. En route, there will be a short stop run for and by handicapped children. On your arrival in Halong Bay, transfer by boat to the wonderful junk-style ship. Once settled in, you start your cruise around the majestic Halong Bay, while enjoying a delicious lunch. Drinks are available for sale on board.
After lunch, you have the chance to explore some of the limestone caves dotted around the bay. Then, the captain will find a secluded spot where you can swim in the clear water of the bay, soak up the sun on the top deck. In the evening, the cook prepares a sumptuous meal as the boat weighs anchor in the heart of the bay. For those who are interested, there is the opportunity to do some night fishing. Overnight on board
This morning, you will keep on cruising on the bay then return to the pier. After disembarking the junk, the waiting vehicle will meet and transfer you back to Hanoi, the journey of about 3.5 hours and you will arrive in Hanoi approx. 15:30. Overnight at Hanoi.
Day 5: Hanoi – Hue (B)
After breakfast and check out hotel, say goodbye to Hanoi and take a flight to Danang (without an escorted guide for departure). Welcome by our local tour guide who takes you to your hotel in Hue. Overnight in Hue.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by road to visit the Royal Citadel & the Imperial City, the past glory of Hue. Emperor Gia Long modeled the Royal Citadel on the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. The Royal Citadel is composed of three walled enclosures, each within the other-a city within a city. Visit the Imperial City, which housed the palaces, pavilions, civil and religious ceremonies and official audiences with the civil mandarins.
Then visit the Forbidden Purple City, located within the Imperial City, this was the royal palace used only by the imperial family and the concubines and eunuchs, who served them. This part of the Imperial City suffered the most extensive damage during the Vietnam War and little remains of the original structure today there are just ruins. UNESCO as a World Heritage Site is presently restoring it.
Then you will continue to Khai Dinh’s Tomb; the spectacular entryway with its dragon pillars is the highlight of the Tomb. The architecture is in a modern style with a blend of European and Eastern design. Inside the main hall are colorful glass mosaic frescoes and a life-size bronze statue of Khai Dinh. Next stop will be Tu Duc’s Tomb; a peaceful resting place enclosed by walls, it features pine woods and a lakeside pavilion with lotus blossoms where the emperor once fished, listened to music, and wrote poetry. The tomb was more of a pleasure garden than a tomb: the emperor used it as a second residence, where he indulged in extravagant 50-course meals of incredible delicacies. The mausoleum was constructed between 1864 and 1867 by a force of 3,000 labours. In the late afternoon, transfer back to your hotel in Hue. Overnight in Hue.
Breakfast at the hotel. You will be picked up and transfer to the train station for 2 hours train to Danang city (without an escorted guide for departure). Upon your arrival, our local guide will meet you at the train station and transfer you to the hotel in Hoian. Overnight in Hoian.

Breakfast at the hotel. For many visitors, Hoi An is a highlight of their trip to Vietnam. During a leisurely discovery tour on foot, you will visit some of the historic merchant and community houses, pagodas and places of worship, famous Japanese Covered Bridge, and the market. Wander around Hoi An’s back streets and you will become aware of a soft, clattering hum. It’s the sound of sewing machines. This little town is also home to literally hundreds of tailor shops.
Nobody will be able to tell you exactly when, how or why Hoi An became sewing central. Many of the buildings have souvenir shops at the front, but a few have been opened to visitors and still retain all their original features, furniture and ceramics. The same family has occupied some of the houses for generations.
After breakfast and check out hotel, say goodbye to Hoian and take a flight to Saigon (without an escorted guide for departure). Welcome by our local tour guide who takes you to your hotel. Have a restful night in Saigon. Overnight in Saigon.

Continue on to the old post office and Cathedral Nortredam. Stroll along the many tantalizing shops of Dong Khoi Street, once known as Rue Catinat, the boulevard where the high society flocked and shopped in colonial times. Shop for bargains and discover your bargaining power and come away with unusual items that will always remind you of this exciting day. Last stop will be the colourful Ben Thanh Market (Cho Ben Thanh Market); see skilful artisans at work in lacquer-ware factory, visit art galleries, and indulge in the splendours of a Vietnamese Silk Shop. Phu Quoc Prison: Also known as the Coconut Prison, this prison gives a unique perspective on the torture and life that Vietnamese Prisoners of War faced under the administration of French Colonists and the Republic of Vietnam. Closed after the country united, the prison was reopened to visitors in 1996 and is now held as a national monument.
