Must-sees:
- Gamla Stan: One of Europe’s best-preserved medieval old towns, filled with colourful façades, winding lanes and atmospheric squares.

Culinary culture:
The gastronomy of Stockholm reflects Sweden’s pure, seasonal flavours. Enjoy dishes such as cured salmon, herring, meatballs with lingonberries or creamy seafood stews served by the water’s edge. Trendy neighbourhood eateries specialise in modern Nordic cuisine, while local bakeries tempt visitors with warm cinnamon buns and cardamom pastries. Cafés and restaurants across Gamla Stan and Södermalm emphasise fresh ingredients, minimalist presentation and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Dive deeper:
Beyond the iconic sights, Stockholm offers a rich tapestry of experiences. Explore boutique design shops in Östermalm, unwind in traditional Swedish saunas, or take a boat trip through the tranquil Stockholm Archipelago — a scattering of thousands of islands stretching into the Baltic. Art and culture enthusiasts can visit cutting-edge galleries, while nature lovers will appreciate the city’s abundance of lakeside parks and forests. Whether in winter’s soft twilight or summer’s long golden evenings, Stockholm reveals a unique charm in every season.
Good to know:
Stockholm is served by Stockholm Arlanda Airport, located about 40 minutes from the city centre by train or car. The best time to visit is from May to September, when the weather is mild and daylight hours are long, although winter offers magical snowy scenery and cosy indoor culture. The local currency is the Swedish krona (SEK).
