Your Itinerary —
DAY 1 - Kiruna
Fly from London Gatwick to Kiruna (via Stockholm) before transfering to Camp Ripan. After checking in to your cosy cabin, a delicious 3-course dinner awaits in the locally renowned hotel restaurant. After dinner relax in the Northern Light room, whilst watching a slide show about the spectacular Northern Lights, and hopefully seeing them in real time too.
Breakfast is followed by a Forest Tour by Dogsled. This is the perfect introduction to the beautiful landscape and surrounds. Sitting on a sled, you will be pulled by a team of excitable, yet friendly Alsakan Huskies as you follow the trail through the forest to the Torne River. You may even spot some reindeer or moose standing amongst the trees. Enjoy a refreshing stop at a traditional Sami-style lavvo for freshly brewed coffee and cake. Returning to the husky farm there will be ample time to meet and greet the dogs and capture an amusing selfie to send home.
Early evening sees you heading back into the wilderness but this time on a snowmobile. After full instruction you and your companions and guide will drive in pairs into the Polar night in an exciting hunt for the Northern Lights. You'll stop by a warm wooden hut for a fortifying hot drink and snack from the Lapland kitchen before heading back to Camp Ripan and dinner that night.
After last nights adventure enjoy a leisurely breakfast. We've left today free for you to choose an additional optional excursion or to simply relax and absorb the tranquil surroundings. We have included a visit to the Aurora Spa including a Staven spa ritual. This self adminstered 'treatment' is based on traditional Swedish, Sami and Finnish medicinal treatments and involves taking your body on a sensual journey through 'mountain springs' and 'pine forests' by using oils, scrubs and water treatments sourced and developed from the local surroundings.
A 3-course dinner is once again served in the hotel restaurant and don't forget to grab a last chance to look for the aurora before heading back to your cabin.
