Your Destination —
If you want to stay local, explore the charming town by bike. Ride across to the Daladawatta temple or the Thalpitiya church with their charmingly rural atmosphere. The village includes the opportunity to see the fascinating art of toddy-tapping where techniques passed down through the generations are used to collect juice from the bud of palm tree flowers.
If you fancy venturing beyond the coast, it easy to see that just a few hours can take you from a rock temple set above the scenic shrubbery of the dry zone to the verdant mountains of the tea-country. There are elephant sanctuaries, national parks, a turtle conservation project and river mangrove forests all within a day's trip from your hotel.

Your Excursions —
As part of this offer, our members will enjoy the following excursions
After breakfast at hotel, proceed to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (approx travel time: 3 – 4 hours)
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat, located at Pinnawala village in Sabaragamuwa province of Sri Lanka.
Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is the best place for an up close and personal experience with the world’s largest land mammals! Today with 70 elephants herein, Pinnawela has become the home to the largest captive group of elephants in the world.
Feeding time at 0915 hrs or 1315 hrs
Travel back to the hotel (approx travel time: 3 – 4 hours)
After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Galle and enjoy a city tour (approx travel time: 2 - 2 ½ hours)
Galle is a coastal town where the Dutch presence is still visible. Galle was an ancient port (said to be the legendary Tarshish of the Bible), and the first international commerce and trade centre.
Today, Galle is the bustling provincial capital and administrative centre of the south. It is famous for its lovely Unawatuna Bay, where the sea is reef protected and therefore safe for swimming.
Galle is home to The old Dutch 'Star Fort' (a World Heritages Site), the well-preserved Groote Kerk (Dutch Church), Dutch Government House, the New Oriental Hotel (built in 1684), Old Bell Tower and a tide-based Sewage-System, also introduced by the Dutch. In Galle they still make the Dutch ‘pillow-lace’ and do fine ebony carving and gem polishing.
On completion proceed to Madu River and enjoy a boat ride experience (approx travel time: 45 minutes - 1 hour)
The estuary of the Madu Ganga river is a complex coastal ecosystem of mangroves and islands. It may be one of the last remaining tracts of pristine mangrove forests in Sri Lanka. A boat trip is a wonderful way of seeing some of the hundreds of species of plants and animals – monkeys eat fruit in the trees, water monitor lizards glide slowly through the water, and cormorants, egrets and kingfishers wait patiently on the banks, eyeing the water for prey.
There are around 64 islands in the river and lagoon, from a tiny speck housing a deserted shrine to one housing 250 families connected to the mainland with a very long footbridge.
You can visit an island with a Buddhist monastery, where the friendly young monks will show you a 150-year-old book made of palm leaves and how they cook on cinnamon wood on an open fire.
On completion return to hotel
