Meet on arrival at Colombo International Airport and Transfer to Colombo – Check in at OZO Colombo 4* - (Sleep Room) – Rest of the day at leisure – Overnight stay at Hotel.
DAY 02 COLOMBO / YALA / TISSAMAHARAMA
Breakfast at Hotel - 0600Hrs leave for Tissamaharama – Check in at The Safari Hotel – Standard Room – 04 Star – Afternoon proceed on a Jeep Safari to visit the Yala National Park – This park is famous for its high density of leopards, perhaps the highest in the world. You are also sure to see elephants – grumpy loan males during the dry months and large herds in the wet season. Sloth bears are also a big draw. You will also see mammal such as wild boars, several species of deer and wild buffalo. There is a plethora of reptilian species and platoons of crocodiles. As is common in Sri Lanka there is a huge diversity of stunning birdlife including migratory species such as the flamingo. It is also one of the few places in the world where the severely endangered black necked stork can still be seen. The uniqueness of the park is the sheer diversity of the habitat: dense jungles suddenly gives way to lagoons and open plain areas and the park has a simply beautiful sea front. Huge, stark boulders dominate the horizon and the elegant, languorous leopard can often be seen basking atop the sun baked rock – Return to Hotel for overnight stay.
Please note the Yala National Park will be closed from the 7th Sep’15 to 7th Oct’15 due to the drought. As alternate, visitors will be taken on a Jeep Safari to visit the Bundala National Park.
Breakfast at hotel – Morning leave for Beruwela – En route visit the Udawalawe National Park - This national park was established in 1972 to protect the catchment area of the Udawalawe reservoir, crucial to the livelihoods of the farmers in the south east dry zone. With the land only recently reverting back from cultivation, the park has some fascinating characteristics that make it well worth a visit. Not least of these is the large elephant population. Udawalawe is the most reliable place to see elephants in their wild habitat year round. Some 400-500 elephants live in the park and herds of up to 50 are commonly seen. The open plains are covered in thick manna grass up to the borders of the large reservoir in the center and the Walawe River. The park is also covered by some abandoned teak plantation and dense scrub jungle. This variety in habitat makes for a rich variety of wildlife and game. As well as elephants, leopards live in the park (though you will be very lucky to spot one), toque monkeys, grey langur, spotted deer, wild pig and sambar. There are numerous bird species of course and Uda walawe is particularly rich in raptor species, among them the white bellied sea eagle and the crested serpent eagle – Drop at Eden Resort & Spa

Madhu River Excursion
Morning Leave for Blapitiya - Enjoy a scenic cruise along the Madhu River, a relaxing trip with plenty of interesting stops. You pass dozens of islets forested with mangroves and can appreciate the timeless natural rhythms of rural life. You cruise in a canopied, outboard motor powered boat; pausing to view a 200-year-old temple & to watch the locals cultivating cinnamon. You may also see traditional fishing techniques in action & can view demonstrations of coir manufacture and rope making – On completion transfer back to the Hotel.
