This is a culturally rich and environmentally diverse country, with nine World Heritage Sites (the oldest dating back to the 3rd Century BC); 86 species of mammals (including elephant and leopard) and more than 400 bird species; a colourful array of flowering plants and trees, and a Hill Country famous for tea; 14 National Parks out of 100 areas protected by the government; and an Indian Ocean coastline boasting palm-fringed and sandy tropical beaches.

Your Itinerary

Day 01: AIRPORT / NEGOMBO (Approx Transfer time: 30 - 40 Mins)
Arrival at Colombo International Airport. Here, you will be met by a professional Chauffeur Guide Lecturer of Hayleys Tours.

After the formalities at the airport you will be escorted to your air conditioned vehicle.
Next, transfer to your hotel in Negombo and check-in. 

Negombo is a characteristic fishing town north of Colombo and is a mere 15 km from the international airport. Set amidst lush groves of coconut palms, it breathes the spirit of the sea. Negombo is a gourmet paradise with sea food in plenty. Old - world fishing craft, like the outrigger canoe and the catamaran, bring seer, skipjack, herring, mullet, pomfret and amber jack, while lobster and prawn are caught in the lagoon. Negombo has a unique nightlife with its beach strip of honky tonk bars & sea food restaurants which are patronized by visitors and locals alike.

OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION JETWING BEACH, NEGOMBO or similar

Day 02: NEGOMBO / PINNAWALA / KANDY            
After breakfast leave for the Pinnawala Elephant orphanage (Approx Transfer time: 2 - 2 ½ HRS)
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat, located at Pinnawala village in Sabaragamuwa province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawela Elephan t Orphanage is the best place for an up close and personal experience with the world’s largest land mammals!  Today with 70 elephants herein, Pinnawela has become the home to the largest captive group of elephants in the world.  Feeding time at 1:15 pm.

En-route visit the Spice gardens in Mawanella (Approx. Transfer time: 40 - 50 mins)
Matale is famous for its batik production and spice gardens. Batik has been an ancient art of painting cloth and today Sri Lanka is among the world leaders in the design of batik. Batik galleries and factories offer batik from simple single-colored designs to intricate multi-colored masterpieces. For centuries, spices have been one of Sri Lanka's celebrated exports. Spices are mostly grown in home gardens (as a home industry) and used not only to flavor food but also for medicine and cosmetics.

Thereafter proceed to Kandy and check into hotel(Approx. Transfer time: 1 – 1 ½ HRS)

Kandy is a lovely city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings retains an aura of grandeur, which time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its center, it is the site of the renowned "Temple of the Tooth". Kandy and its satellite villages is the center of the island’s handicraft industry and its traditional dances are the most spectacular in the country.

Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

This was originally the King’s own royal pleasure garden that was later converted in to a botanic garden and opened   to the public.  At the Royal Botanical Gardens at ‘Peradeniya’ you could treat your eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.
On completion do a city tour of Kandy.

You will also have the time to do some shopping in Kandy, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewelry and reed-ware at bargain prices!! 

Thereafter in the late afternoon in, make a visit to The Temple of the Tooth Relic is located in the royal palace complex which houses the Relic of the tooth of Buddha.

After that witness a Cultural Dance performance in the evening. These classical dance forms are associated with the performance of various rituals and ceremonies which are centuries old and are based on the folk religion and folk beliefs going back to times before the advent and acceptance of Buddhism by the Sinhalese people in the third century B.C. Return to the Hotel.

Day 03: KANDY / PERADENIYA / KANDY
After breakfast leave for the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya

This was originally the King’s own royal pleasure garden that was later converted in to a botanic garden and opened   to the public.  At the Royal Botanical Gardens at ‘Peradeniya’ you could treat your eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.
On completion do a city tour of Kandy.

Day 04:    KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA
After breakfast proceed to the railway station in Peradeniya, where you can board the train experiencing a scenic ride and arriving in Nanu Oya Nuwara Eliya.   (Approx. Transfer time: 3 - 4 HRS)
At Nanu Oya you will be reunited with your chauffeur guide who will transfer you to your hotel in Nuwara Eliya.
 
En-route visit a Tea factory.

Nuwara Eliya is set in the heart of tea-country is a beautiful town where the British succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside, with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, a famous golf course and beautiful parks give the place an air of nostalgia. Situated 6,200 feet above sea level, the air is cool and fresh – a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Pony and Horse riding is available at the turf club of Nuwara Eliya to facilitate you with some sports and adventure. Visit a tea plantation situated in the misty mountains of the Sri Lankan Hills, to experience the ultimate feel of a tea plantation and its process.

On completion check into hotel in Nuwara Eliya

Afternoon proceed to do a sightseeing tour of the beautiful town of Nuwara Eliya

Day 05: NUWARA ELIYA / TISSAMAHARAMA 
After breakfast proceed to Tissamaharama for your wildlife experience. (Approx. Transfer time: 3 - 4 HRS)

Yala is one of the best spots available for wildlife observers and photographers. Apart from the wildlife, the park consists of a range of vegetation from grassland to dense jungle with an abundance of water streams, lagoons and lakes. Apart from the highest concentration of leopards, the park contains a numbers of animals including Asian elephants, crocodiles, wild boar, water buffalo and grey langurs. Birdlife includes White bellied sea eagle in parklands and Waders, Painted storks and Black necked stork in the wetlands. Sirkeer Malkoha and Sri Lanka Jungle flow are few of the Sri Lankan endemic species that can be found in Yala.

Upon arrival check-in to hotel.

Proceed on a Jeep Safari at the Yala National Park.
Yala National Park is a widely known Sri Lankan forest reserve which is located in the southeast part of the island. It is prominent among the other national parks due to the fact that it has the highest density of leopards. The park is an internationally recognized wild life preservation, which is about 309 km away from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Though the reserve is spread in about 1,259 square km of land, a mere 141 square km block is open for the public.

Day 06:    TISSAMAHARAMA / GALLE / MOUNT LAVINIA HOTEL
After breakfast proceed to Mount Lavinia via Galle visiting the Famous Galle Fort, (Approx Transfer time: 3 - 4 hours)

Colonial remnants in Sri Lanka include Dutch forts, canal and churches and British residences, clubs and courthouses. Galle is the finest colonial city on the island.

Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, originally built by the Portuguese and then further developed by the Dutch and the British, covers nearly four sq kms, and is protected by 12 bastions and connecting ramparts. During the early 18th     century the Old Dutch Gate was the entrance point to the Fort. Subsequently the British built the Main Gate which is     still     used today
On completion continue to your beach stay in Mount Lavinia and check in to hotel.  (Approx Transfer time: 2.5 - 3.5 hours)

In the evening if time permits explore the commercial city of Colombo (Approx Transfer time: 30 - 40 mins)

Sri Lanka’s commercial capital and the largest city with the highest population, Colombo is situated in the Western Province. It is a fascinating town which has a blend of eastern and western cultures where all colors of the island are drawn together. Many visitors appreciate the city’s colonial heritage and enjoy the vast range of fine shopping and dining outlets that can be located within the rush of its urban buzz. Colombo grew in to major hub for traders and sailors, and as a base for future colonists from which to develop the country. Starting in 1517, the Portuguese gradually extended them as the colonial rulers constructing many at the commercial buildings seen in Colombo today.

Sri Lanka's biggest city is a colorful and bustling place offering an array of sights, tastes and experiences. You will visit the Hindu temple with elaborate stone carvings, the Dutch Church dating back to 1749, the historic Devatgahaha Mosque and the Gangarama Temple on Beira Lake.

On completion return to your hotel.

Travel Documents

You will receive an email confirming your booking within the next 48 hours.Please check all details on this confirmation are correct. If there are any discrepancies, please notify us as soon as possible.

The airline is ticketless and therefore, you will not receive any hard copy documents. You will however, receive an email from us detailing your flight information and reference number to enable you to manage your booking online via the airline website.

You will also receive an accommodation voucher for presentation at the hotel reception at point of check-in.

If you have booked transfers, Meet & Greet, car hire or airport lounges, you will receive a separate voucher for each of these services. Please note that transfer vouchers are sent directly from the transfer supplier.
