After the formalities at the airport, you will be escorted to your air-conditioned vehicle and start your journey to the Pinnawala Elephant Foundation (about a 2h-2h30 drive). Depending on the time of arrival, you can enjoy a walk with the elephants. The Millennium Elephant Foundation is part of an approach to protect elephants and offers a respectful way to interact with animals. It was founded in 1999 to accommodate elephants previously in captivity.
Day 2: Habarana - Sigiriya - Hiriwadunna - Habarana
After breakfast, head over to Sigiriya for a visit to the Lion Rock. You will climb 1,200 steps to the rochause fortress of Sigiriya, which was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century AD. It was the royal citadel for almost 18 years. You will also discover frescoes and a summit with an area of nearly one hectare. The UNESCO-sponsored Central Cultural Fund restored the 5th-century water gardens of Sigiriya.
This climb is not recommended for people who have difficulty walking.
Next, you'll go to the village of Hiriwadunna for a trek. You will experience a unique adventure in the village. Start with a walk along the Wewa dike or an artificial reservoir. Discover the jungle and the village surrounded by impressive wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Habarana - Dambulla - Matale - Kandy

After breakfast go to visit the cave temple in Dambulla. The cave temple is a vast isolated rock mass and it is here that King Valagambahu took refuge in the 1st century BC. Later, he transformed the caves into a rock temple.
Dambulla is a World Heritage Site and the most impressive rock temple in Sri Lanka. The five-cave complex with over 2,000m² of painted walls and ceilings found here is over 2000 years old and is the largest painting surface found in the world. The caves contain over 150 representations of the Buddha, the largest of which is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of the rock and spanning 14 meters. Dambulla is a massive boulder in the plains surrounding Dambulla and reached a height of 600 feet. This journey is not recommended for people who have difficulty walking.
Then head to the spice garden in Matale, an area famous for its spice gardens. For centuries, spices have been one of Sri Lanka's most famous exports. They are mainly grown in home gardens and used not only for flavoring food, but also for medicines and cosmetics. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Kandy
After breakfast, you will depart for a unique Kandyan arts and craft villages excursion with lunch at Sembuwatta Lake. Discover the village of Pallehapuwida where you will meet craftsmen making ashtrays, jewelry boxes, or leaf holders according to local know-how. Then head to Sembuwatta Lake for lunch served in a banana leaf. End with a visit to the village of Henavala to experience the Hana tapestries. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
Breakfast at the hotel, then depart for Nuwara Eliya. On the way, you will stop to visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.
The Temple of the Tooth Relic is located in the royal palace complex which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics as it is believed that the holder of the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sinhala kings and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Drive to Nuwara Eliya. Stop off to explore the tea plantations. Situated in the heart of the tea country, in a beautiful town, the British have succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside with houses in styles ranging from Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-manicured lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, a renowned golf course, and beautiful parks all live here. Located 200 meters above sea level, the air is fresh and away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Take a city tour in Nuwara Eliya. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Nuwara Eliya - Ella - Tissalaharamaya

After breakfast, explore Little Adam’s Peak. Adams Peak is a 2,243m mountain located in central Sri Lanka. It is a place of pilgrimage and a great walk. Traditionally, pilgrims and walkers ascend Adam's Peak at night, then travel to the summit at dawn to see the shadow of the mountain recede with the rising sun. Next, drive to Lipton seat.
Lipton’s Seat is a hotspot in the Poonagala Hills, offering breathtaking views of the island’s many neighborhoods. Located at the top of the Poonagala Hill, of the same name, it is also close to the Dambatenne tea factory. The Seat of Lipton is so named because the famous Scottish baron and tea planter, Sir Thomas Lipton, used it as the seat to examine his empire in a bygone, but not forgotten, era. Travel to Tissalaharamaya, and dine and sleep at the hotel.
Day 7: Tissalaharamaya - Galle - Kaluthara
After breakfast, enjoy a unique experience on a Jeep safari in Yala National Park.
The elephant is undoubtedly the most famous attraction in Yala. Herds of spotted deer are seen all over the park. The monkeys, the pink rhesus and the gray-faced langur monkey, live and play on the treetops and on the ground below. Wild buffalo and boar might give a nice surprise, and the sight of a leopard sunbathing or drinking water at a waterhole could be a memorable experience. The peacock is the most famous bird in Yala. The painted stork, many varieties of heron, the spoonbill, the bee-eater, parakeets, king fisherman, and woodpecker are some of the birds that can be observed. Drive to Galle.
Galle is a coastal town where the Dutch presence is still visible. Galle was an ancient port (considered the legendary Tarsis of the Bible) and the first center of international trade. Today, Galle is the bustling provincial capital and administrative center of the south. It is famous for its beautiful bay of Unawatuna, where the sea is protected from reefs and therefore safe for swimming.
You will see the old Dutch 'Star Fort' (World Heritage Site) covering 36 hectares, the well-preserved Groote Kerk (Dutch church), the Dutch government, the New Oriental Hotel (built in 1684), its old bell tower and sewers. In Galle, the Dutch 'pillow lace factory still exists. Next, dine and overnight at the Tangerine Beach Hotel 4*.
