Your Itinerary In Detail —
Day 1: Colombo - Anuradhapura
Welcome on arrival at Colombo airport and welcome by your driver. Transfer to Anuradhapura via Padeniya. Arrival at the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, rest of the day at your leisure.

DAY 2: ANURADHAPURA - VAVUNIYA - JAFFNA
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, head to Anuradhapura. The political and religious capital until the tenth century, the city houses the Mahabodhi Temple, literally translated as the 'Great Awakening Temple', containing a cutting from the tree underneath which Buddha reached enlightenment. You'll also see plenty of dome-shaped shrines called 'dagobas'.
In the afternoon, take the road to the north of Sri Lanka to visit Jaffna, home to some of the most vibrant monuments, temples and historical sites.
Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 3: JAFFNA
Breakfast before exploring Jaffna. Discover the local market, large fortress, colourful colonial buildings and one of the largest Hindu temples in the country, Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil.
In the later afternoon, return to your hotel for the night.
Transfer: Private vehicle - 1 ½ hrs – 2 ½ hrs during the day.
Day 4: Jaffna - Uppuveli
Breakfast at the hotel. Continue your visit of Jaffna, and in the afternoon, leave for the East Coast. Cross Elephant Pass, the causeway spanning the shallow lagoon which separates the Jaffna peninsula from the rest of the island, where elephants were exported during the Dutch occupation of the island. Continue to Uppuveli.
Arrival and settle in at your hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: UPPUVELI - SIGIRIYA
Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning on the pretty beach of Uppuveli.
Optional: Pigeon Island Tour
20 minutes by boat from the hotel is another small paradise with clear turquoise waters - Pigeon Island. Enjoy an early morning boat trip and observe rich marine life including brightly coloured corals, fish and turtles.
Afternoon departure to Sigiriya. Visit the famous temple of Koneshwaram. Surrounded by the spectacular Swami Rock and Gokanna Bay, the classical-medieval complex is the main attraction of Trinco. The site is an important centre of Hindu pilgrimage and one of the Pancha Ishwarams (five abodes of Shiva) built in Sri Lanka to honour one of the main Hindu deities.

DAY 6: SIGIRIYA - POLONNARUWA - SIGIRIYA
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Sigiriya, where you'll visit Lion Rock or Sigiriya, the eighth wonder of the modern world. Sigirya is a citadel from the 5th century, built by King Kassyapa, and was a royal citadel for over 18 years. Climb the stone stairs, and reach the top of the ‘Lion's Rock’. In a sheltered pocket, accessible by a spiral staircase, are the famous frescoes. Sigiriya's 5th century water gardens have been restored to their former glory.
Then, leave for Polonnaruwa and visit the medieval capital of Sri Lanka. This archaeological site, founded in the 12th century, was the work of a single king, Parakrama Bahu (1153 - 1186). Explore the royal palace, the temple of Shiva and the Buddhist temples home to the Vatadage (containing ancient relics), Gal Vihara (Rock Temple) and its three statues of Buddha.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Sigiriya - Dambulla - Matale - Kandy
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Dambulla, known for having the largest wholesale vegetable and fruit market in Sri Lanka.
Continue towards Matale, for a visit to the spice garden at the gates of the old capital, Kandy. Spices are mainly produced in this region, and the area is particularly well-known for its cinnamon. Learn about the different spices growing here.
Visit pretty Kandy, on the shores of a lake framed by trees. Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you'll be able to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the most famous Buddhist temples in the world. You're bound to see pilgrims laying fruit and flowers as offerings.

DAY 8: KANDY - NUWARA ELIYA
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, you'll visit the famous Peradeniya botanical gardens, the biggest in Sri Lanka, These old royal parks span over 60 hectares, and contain 300 varieties of orchids and a majestic java fig tree.
Next up, you'll leave Kandy for the Nuwara Eliya region and its lush tea plantations stretching out for miles over the hills. Stop at Ramboda Falls, and continue through spectacular mountain scenery. You'll have the opportunity to go to a tea plantation and learn about how tea is made. Nuwara Eliya looks like an English city due to its Victorian houses and rose gardens, and is a pretty place to wander in the afternoon. You'll have a guided tour and free time to explore.

DAY 9: NUWARA ELIYA - ELLA - WELLAWAYA - UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK - UDAWALAWE
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave for the south of the island, and travel through magnificent hillside landscapes, stopping at the fourth-highest waterfall in Sri Lnka, Rayana Falls.
Arrive in Udawalawe, and visit the Elephant Transit Home next to Udawalawe National Park. The Elephant Transit Home's main objective is to care for orphaned baby elephants so that they can be reintroduced to the wild.
In the afternoon, visit the Udawalawe National Park, and set off on a jeep safari of around 3 ½ hrs in Udawalawe National Park. Many birds, crocodiles, spotted deer, wild buffaloes, and herds of wild elephants live in the park.
After the safari, take your transfer to your hotel and settle in for dinner and overnight.

DAY 10: UDAWALAWE - TANGALLE - GALLE - KALUTARA
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave towards the south coast to Tangalle. Take the road that runs along the coast and then head towards Galle, passing the fishing village of Weligama.
Follow the road to Galle, a key stop on the spice route, selling cinnamon, mother of pearl, oil and lemongrass. The old town is protected by UNESCO, and carries many traces of its colonial past in its winding alleys.
Continue your journey to Negombo. Arrival at the hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 11 & 12: KALUTARA (12-NIGHT TOUR ONLY)
Make the most of your free time to sunbathe on the beaches in Kalutara, renowned for their golden sands and crystal waters.
