Your Itinerary In Detail —
Day 1 : Negombo
Touch down at Bandaranaike International Airport and collect your luggage before a friendly representative greets you in the arrival lounge. Transfer to your hotel, check-in, and relax.
DAY 2 : DAMBULLA
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Sigiriya.
Enjoy a morning boat ride in the vast Negombo lagoon, a stretch of water dotted with islands and brimming with fish, crabs, lagoon shrimps, herons, cormorants and swifts. Enjoy a refreshing Arrack cocktail or a royal coconut, sit back, and enjoy the ride.
Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple (also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla), home to five caves, a picturesque façade carved into the side of a steep rock face, and ancient paintings. Overnight in Sigiriya.
DAY 3 : SIGIRIYA

Visit Sigiriya, one of seven World Heritage Sites in Sril Lanka, known for its ancient rock fortress and palace ruins, surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens. Please note: If you wish to climb to the top, it will take about 2-3 hours.
Enjoy lunch in the open air, overlooking the large fortress. Overnight in Sigiriya.
Optional Jeep safari to Minneriya National Park : The national parks in Habarana are the best places in the country to see wild elephants, which are often present in huge numbers.
Day 4 : Kandy
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, it's time to head to Kandy, where you'll enjoy a scenic bike tour and guided catamaran ride through a nature reserve. Learn of the traditional village way of life, and visit a village house. As you continue on your tour, pause at the Ayurvedic village of Matale, once world famous for its quality spices. Please note: spices are available for sale but you are not obliged to buy them. Overnight in Kandy.
DAY 5 : KANDY

Start the day with a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, or Dalada Maligawa, a monumental location not only in Kandy, but the whole of Sri Lanka. Please note: please wear modest clothing while visiting the Temple of the Tooth. Flowers for offering can be purchased on the way to the temple. Proper attire is required for the visit. You may take your camera but shoes must be removed at the temple entrance. Secure storage facilities are available.
Continue the day with a tour of Kandy City by tuktuk! Nestled amongst green hills and intersected by the Mahaweli River, this pretty city retains an old-world charm and traditions. Visit the batik and woodcarving centre, and head to a cultural evening show (approx. 2-3 hours.) Overnight in Kandy.
DAY 6 : NUWARA-ELIYA

Hop on a train and take the journey to Nuwara-Eliya through picturesque hills and magical, unspoilt landscapes. Please note : The train journey is on a simple local train, which may be less comfortable than what you are used to (duration: approx. 3 hours)
Visit a tea plantation and the home of the world's best tea : Ceylon. This interesting tour will give you an insight into the true art of growing and producing this familiar brew. Overnight in Nuwara-Eliya.
Day 7 : Yala
Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to Yala, ready for a Jeep safari in Yala National Park. The second largest national park in Sri Lanka, this unique location rests at the edge of the Indian Ocean and boasts one of the highest densities of leopards in the world. The majestic Sri Lankan elephant and the leopard take pride of place in this amazing national park. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 8 : YALA

Check-out and head to Galle Fortress, an ancient citadel brimming with history and charm. Learn how Asia's largest fort was built, walk along the ramparts, and enjoy panoramic views of the fort, harbour and crystal clear waters below. Day Trip to Udawalawe (min. 2 people)
Udawalawe lies to the south of the central hills of the island and surrounds the man-made Udawalawe Reservoir, which forms part of the park. During the dry season visitors can watch the many herds of elephants roaming the park, usually between May and September. It is estimated that 450 elephants live here!
Day Trip to Sinharaja (min. 2 people)
The Sinharaja Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the last remaining rainforest in Sri Lanka and home to most (nearly 95%) of Sri Lanka's endemic birds, giant butterflies and over 50% of Sri Lanka's endemic mammals. The most amazing sight at Sinharaja is the dazzling colours and shocking contrasts of the large mixed flocks of birds feeding and flying through the forest.
Day Trip to Galle (min. 2 people)
The turtle hatchery at Kosgoda, 8 km south of Bentota, is said to be the best place to see giant tortoises and their hatchlings, and Galle is the port where the Portuguese first landed in Sri Lanka. The city, which was fortified by the Dutch who ruled maritime Sri Lanka in the 17th and 18th centuries, still exudes the atmosphere of old Holland: Old Dutch churches and coats of arms, a well-preserved fort, an imposing gate from 1669, many well-preserved Dutch houses and narrow streets that still bear Dutch names.
