Your Excursions —
Optional Excursions

Located in North-Central Province, this UNESCO World Heritage Site dates from the 1st century BC. This amazing complex of five caves was first used as a refuge by a former king who, on regaining his throne, commanded magnificent images carved into the rock. The kings who succeeded him further improved these caves, which today contain more than 150 Buddha images, the largest of which is a colossal figure extending over 15 metres. This temple is the ideal place to admire Sri Lankan art and is an important historical site.
Minneriya National Park, located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, covers 8890 hectares and is home to a rich fauna and flora with hundreds of animal species including elephants and leopards. The characteristic of this park is its reservoir built in the 3rd century which, during the dry season, becomes the ideal place to observe the wildlife in its natural setting.
The Peradeniya Botanic Gardens can be found just outside of Kandy, and are noted for their rich, vibrant and varied collections of tropical plants and flowers. Sat across 146 acres of land, these stunning gardens boast around 4,000 species of plants. The most important specimens of the garden include palms, orchids, gymnosperms, and flowering trees.
