Whether you opt for a tour for 8 or 10 nights, you are about to experience a magical experience on this private tour! From the beautiful botanical garden of Peradeniya to the train ride on one of the most beautiful railways in the world passing by the unmissable Lion Rock, a whole series of sumptuous landscapes are waiting for you.
To guide you during your stay, you will benefit from the services of an English speaking driver. To not miss anecdotes about Sri Lankan history and culture, you can choose to be accompanied by an English-speaking guide offered as an optional extra.
Your Itinerary (8 Nights) —
Upon your arrival in Colombo, you will be greeted by your driver who will take you straight to Uduwalawe, passing through Rathnapura. Once there, you will settle in the hotel. You will be free to relax or explore for the rest of the day.
Day 2: Uduwalawe - Buduruwagala - Ella - Bandarawela
In the late afternoon, you will embark on a jeep safari of about 3 hours so you can admire a variety of wildlife: birds, crocodiles, spotted deer, wild buffaloes but also herds of elephants! After your safari, you will take the road towards Ella. On the way, you will visit the extraordinary site of Buduruwagala, located in the heart of nature where several statues have been carved into the rock. You will then continue to Ella where you will find sumptuous landscapes, hills and breathtaking views of the plains. On route, you will stop in front of the waterfall Ravana Falls.
Day 3: Bandarawela - Nanuoya - Nuwara Eliya - Daulagala
You will take the road to Bandarawela station where the train to Nanuoya will be waiting for you. Considered one of the most beautiful railroads in the world, you will cross tea plantations on mountain landscapes. Once you arrive, you will take the path to Nuwara Eliya and visit the former summer residence of the British governor. Nuwara Eliya will remind you of England with its Victorian villas, rose gardens, pristine lawns, golf course and above all, its cool and misty climate. You will take a tour of the city and continue your way to Daulagala. Visit a tea plantation and a factory where you will learn the different processes of making tea.
Transfer to Kandy and visit the Buddha Tooth Temple (Dalada Maligawa). Every day, hundreds of Buddhist pilgrims come to pray at the precious relic. Then continue to Peradeniya and visit the botanical gardens. You will discover a variety of trees, flowers, spices and fruits that will surprise you. In the late afternoon, you will have the pleasure of visiting a gemstone workshop.
Day 5: Daulagala - Matale - Dambulla - Habarana
Next, a journey to the region of Matale where you will see a Batik workshop before visiting a garden of spices. You will discover the different spices grown in Ceylon, then the compositions, creams and mixtures made from them. You will continue your way to Sigiriya and visit the rock temple of Dambulla. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991, the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a rock monastery, with five caves sanctuaries that are entirely decorated with Buddhist murals. All vermilion and ocher, this shimmering work covers no less than 2100m².
Next, ride an exhilarating tuk-tuk that oxcarts through the countryside. You will then sail on a small lake, through lotus and water lilies, aboard a catamaran. You will then visit a plantation before going to a village house where you will be given a local cooking demonstration. In the afternoon, you will climb the Lion Rock, a rocky peak transformed into a fortress palace. The ascent of the rock is made by a staircase on the mountainside and lasts about 3 hours.
Day 7: Habarana -Polonnaruwa - Habarana
Transfer to Polonnaruwa and visit this ancient city, where remains have been covered by the rainforest. It's the Medieval capital of Ceylon, on the romantic lake of Parakrama. The kings of Ceylon settled here in the 11th century after abandoning Anuradhapura. Here, you will discover the beautiful Buddha statues.
Day 8: Habarana - Kurunegala - Negombo
After breakfast, transfer to Negombo via Kurunegala. Free afternoon.
Optional, payable locally: boat trip of about half an hour. You will cross the nature reserves to marshland, rich in flora and fauna typical of this environment.
Day 9: Negombo - airport
Depending on the time of the flight, transfer to the airport for your departure.

Day 7: Habarana - Polonnaruwa - Passikudah
Transfer to Polonnaruwa and visit this ancient city, where remains have been covered by the rainforest. It's the Medieval capital of Ceylon, on the romantic lake of Parakrama. The kings of Ceylon settled here in the 11th century after abandoning Anuradhapura. Here, you will discover the beautiful Buddha statues. After the visit, head to the East Coast and set up in the hotel for three nights.
Optional, payable locally: possibility for 3-hour cruise on a shared boat is available in the morning or in the afternoon in the month of September departing from the Passikudah beach of the wonderful Passikudah Bay.
Day 8 and 9: Passikudah Free days on the beautiful Passikudah beach.
Day 10: Morning at your leisure. Check out from the hotel around 12 pm. Thereafter transfer to Veyangoda via Habarana & Kurunegala Dinner & overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 11: After breakfast transfer to the airport in time for your departure.
