Day 3: Kandy - Pasikudah
En route stop over in Matale for a visit to a spice garden. Sri Lanka has remained popular for its exotic spices, the world over. Day 1: Katunayake - Dambulla
Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met and assisted by our Airport Representative who will hold a board with your name as you enter the main lobby and introduce you to your chauffeur guide or guide who will be your travel companion and explorer around Sri Lanka.
The drive to the Paradise Resort in Dambulla takes approximately four hours. we travel on back roads towards the north-east to the area we call the Cultural Triangle. The road winds its way through vast coconut and pineapple plantations and every now and then you will cross a village where if you like you may stop to have a thambili, the traditional Sri Lankan coconut.

The Kandy Esala Perahera (the Esala procession of Kandy) also known as The Festival of the Tooth is a grand festival celebrated with elegant costumes and is held in July and August in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This historical procession is held annually to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, which is housed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. A unique symbol of Sri Lanka, the procession consists of many traditional local dances such as fire-dances, whip-dances, Kandyan dances and various other cultural dances, in addition to the elephants who are usually adorned with lavish garments. The festival ends with the traditional diya-kepeema ritual, a water cutting ceremony which is held at the Mahaweli River at Getambe, Kandy.

Sri Lanka is fast becoming a hot spot for watching Whales and Dolphins. Whale watching has now become firmly established during the East Coast Season. Between March to August, Trincomalee has high strike rates for Blue Whales and Sperm Whales and even higher for Dolphins, mainly Spinner Dolphins. Duration of Experience: 4 hrs.
Located in Mawella, a small town in Dickwella, this vent is a natural phenomenon. Seaspray, due to the high pressure of the water, vaporises through a blowhole, sometimes reaching a height of 40 to 50 feet. This usually happens during the monsoon season and attracts a lot of people.
The Sinharaja Rainforest, which translates as "Lion's Kingdom," is located one hour from Dickwella. Home to many species, this National Park is a mecca of biodiversity and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Many bird watching expeditions take place throughout the year. One of them is the mixed species bird herd study, conducted since 1981. A trek through dense vegetation with binoculars, a camera and a guide is the only way to enjoy the beauty that is Sinharaja.
Udawalawe, home to 400 Asian elephants in Sri Lanka, is in the southern province of the island, 90 minutes from Dickwella. Other than elephants, this remarkable dry-zone game park is ideal for a safari expedition to observe leopards, sambar deer, water buffaloes and birds.
About 40 minutes from Dickwella is Galle, the capital city of the Southern Province of the island, which is the home of a magnificent Dutch fort, the most popular attraction in the town. Built by the Dutch in 1663, this 36-hectare fort occupies most of the promontory that forms the older part of Galle. It is interesting to note that many Old Dutch buildings are still intact inside the fort and colonial architectural styles are still very popular. UNESCO has recognized the fort as a World Heritage Site.
About two hours' drive from Dickwella, Yala National Park is one of the island's most prominent national parks, boasting beautiful scenery and an abundance of wildlife, flora and foliage. Located in the southern region of the island, it is home to various species of animals that have made the park their natural habitat. Yala is also known for its ancient monastery caves as well as for the salt pans of the Palapatuna Sea, all of which are worth watching as you head for it.
