DAY 1    AIRPORT / BERUWALA
On arrival at Colombo International Airport on your flight, you will be met by a professional guide . After the formalities at the airport you will be escorted to your air conditioned vehicle. Thereafter transfer to your beach hotel in Beruwala (Approx Travel time: 2 – 2 ½ HRS)

On arrival, check in to the hotel and stay at leisure.

DAY 2    BERUWALA/GALLE/KOSGODA/BENTOTA/BERUWALA
After breakfast at hotel, Proceed to visit the colonial coastal town of Galle and continue to experience the Madhu River Boat Safari and Turtle Hatchery.
(Approx Travel time: 1 ½ HRS - 2 HRS)

Galle is a coastal town where the Dutch presence is still visible. Galle was an ancient port (said to be the legendary Tarshish of the Bible), and our first international commerce and trade centre. Today, Galle is the bustling provincial capital and administrative centre of the south.It is famous for its lovely nawatuna Bay, where the sea is reef protected and therefore safe for swimming. The old Dutch “Star Fort” (a World Heritages Site) covering 36 hectares, the   well-preserved Groote Kerk (Dutch Church), Dutch Government House, the New Oriental Hotel (built in 1684) old bell tower and a tide-based Sewage-System, also introduced by the Dutch. In Galle they still make the Dutch ‘pillow-lace’ and do fine ebony carving and gem polishing.

Next you will visit the Turtle Hatchery Kosgoda.

Turtle Hatchery : The beaches of Kosgoda are the nesting grounds for five species of marine turtles. They are the Green turtle, the Leatherback, the Hawksbill the Loggerhead and the Olive Ridley. All 5 species have been recorded to nest along specific areas of Sri Lanka’s coast.

Next you will visit the Madhu River Boat Safari.

The estuary of the Madu Ganga river is a complex coastal ecosystem of mangroves and islands. It may be one of the last remaining tracts of pristine mangrove forests in Sri Lanka. A boat trip is a wonderful way of seeing some of the     hundreds of species of plants and animals – monkeys eat fruit in the trees, a water monitor lizard glides slowly through the water, and cormorants, egrets and kingfishers wait patiently on the banks, eyeing the water for prey.

There are around 64 islands in the river and lagoon, from a tiny speck housing a deserted shrine to one housing 250 families connected to the mainland with a very long footbridge. You can visit an island with a Buddhist monastery, where the friendly young monks will show you a 150-year-old book made of palm leaves and how they cook on cinnamon wood on an open fire.

The main occupations of the local inhabitants are producing cinnamon and prawn fishing – if you take the trip in the evening you will see the fishermen in their canoes lighting lanterns to attract the shellfish into their traps.

On completion return to hotel and relax.

DAY 3    BERUWALA/ UDAWALAWE /BERUWALA
After early breakfast at hotel, Proceed to Udawalawe National park
(Approx Travel time: 3 ½ HRS - 4 HRS)

Udawalawa, Located approximately 200 km south-east of Colombo city and is a major eco tourism destination in Sri Lanka. The 30,821 hectares dry zone game park has an annual rainfall of 1524 mm and an average temperat ure of 29.4°C. It is most famous for the many elephants that live there (about 400 in total). During a visit, it is not unusual to see whole herds of adults and young elephants feeding or bathing and playing in the water! In addition to this main attraction, the park is home to many water buffalo, water monitor lizards, sambar deer, monkeys and the occasional leopard, as well as being an exciting location for bird enthusiasts.

On completion, return to your hotel and relax.

Breakfast at hotel, spend rest of the day at leisure by beach or pool and enjoying the other facilities at the hotel.

Today after breakfast you will be transferred to the Colombo Airport to catch your flight back home
