Treat yourself to a tour of Mahe’s wild side, the untamed south of the island, with its rolling countryside, quaint hamlets and spectacular beaches. Your day starts in charming Victoria, on a visit to the bustling market, ‘Little Ben’, its famous landmark the clocktower and the other fascinating nooks and crannies of one of the world’s smallest capitals.
A scenic drive into cool of the mountains follows, offering unforgettable vistas of the ocean below en route to the enchanted setting of ‘Mission Lodge’, site of an ancient school for slave children and now home to the songs of endemic birds. Seemingly suspended in the mountain mists is the tea plantation which you will pass on your descent to the surreally beautiful west coast and the photo opportunity of your stay as the road meanders through picturesque villages on its way to Pineapple Studio – an Aladdin's Cave of local arts & crafts.
This particular rainbow expedition ends at the spectacular Cap Lazare amid the scented blossoms of Frangipani trees and the manicured gardens of a private estate where you will feast on a mouth-watering Creole Buffet served right on the beachfront. The afternoon is yours to enjoy in the beautiful grounds of this exceptional domain, famous for its large population of Giant Land Tortoises, its endemic plants, the scenic panoramic views along with its enchanted trail and for the wonders of its underwater world.
2 Islands Melody
Join an unmissable tour of some of Seychelles most iconic landmarks, where you will be transported to the mysterious Vallee de Mai, home of the legendary Coco de Mer, the double-lobed coconut that takes the form of a female pelvis, growing high on ancient palms in a primaeval valley.
This shaded glade, once believed to be the site of the biblical Garden of Eden with the Coco de Mer as it’s forbidden fruit, is where you will enjoy a guided tour of this mystical realm, seemingly lost in time, along meandering pathways beneath the panoply of centuries-old palms, serenaded by the birdsong of rare, endemic birds and by the whisper of fantastic legends. Discover the culture of Seychelles by a short visit of the Praslin Museum before heading to your next destination.
Then, taste the adventure of sailing by traditional schooner to the neighbouring island of La Digue, wondering at those same sights that filled the hearts of the early explorers with such wonder, riding the ocean waves to a timeless isle where ancient tradition is still the order of the day. At La Digue’s quaint jetty you will be offered refreshing, freshly picked coconuts before you visit L’Union Estate where the secrets of old plantation life will be laid bare on a tour of the copra mill, giant tortoises pen and the glorious, old plantation house. Your next stop is the world famous beach of Anse Source D’Argent, the planet’s most photographed strand, for a refreshing dip in dappled sapphire waters, just as a delicious Creole luncheon is being prepared for you at enchanting Domaine de L’Orangeraie followed by an afternoon relaxing on the beach.
NB: As the excursion requires a lot of mobility, it is not recommended for the disabled and the elderly.
