Your Destinations —
Picturesque Porto is much more than just a place of pilgrimage for port wine lovers - although this unique industry is among the many attractions of Portugal's second city. Straddling the River Douro just a few kilometres inland from the Atlantic, Porto, in the country's northwest, is closer to Spanish Galicia than it is to Lisbon. The ancient city of Porto is characterised by its narrow streets, picturesque buildings and colourful local markets.
Porto is steeped in history and is the ideal setting for a city break combined with cultural discovery. Porto's historic centre is the Ribeira district, full of UNESCO World Heritage sites and monuments. Old churches and staircases peer around every corner, and the friendly, inviting locals make discovering this fascinating city a pleasurable experience.
The Duoro Valley is located in Northern Portugal, extending from the city of Porto the eastern border of Portugal. This area is known for its absolutely astounding natural beauty and unique scenery sculpted by the meandering Douro River and its tributaries.
Beyond the riverbank lays a tapestry of colour and flora with Douro's many vineyards. This beautiful region of fertile hills and vineyards, classified as a World Heritage Site, produces flavourful Port wine – one of Portugal's greatest national treasures. Why not book a vineyard tour or tasting, and take home some souvenir bottles?
Esposende is known as one of the most beautiful regions of Portugal. Located on its Northern coast, this region harmonises all dimensions of nature, offering extensive beaches and dunes, pine forests, woodlands, hills, cliffs, rivers, and sea.
Esposende is home to the North Coast Natural Park as well as numerous historical and cultural villages and landmarks, including the Viana do Castelo, Valencia do Minho, and Caminha.
