Embera Community Meeting

Your Optional Excursions
Prepare for a cultural encounter with the indigenous community “Emberá”. Embark on a 20-minute canoe ride along the Chagres River and explore its surroundings where natural life runs at its edges. Walk through the jungle until you reach a waterfall where you can refresh yourself before continuing to the community (if the level of water is adequate- moderate hike). One of the village chiefs “cacique” will present their lifestyle and traditions:  developing of baskets, colourful clothes, body paintings, and dances. This day tour is based on the cultural exchanges, simplicity and humility.

Entry Requirements 


You must ensure you have a valid passport to travel on. 


If your passport describes you as a British Citizen, you don’t need a visa to enter Panama unless you are arriving by sea. You must have a return or onward ticket and the equivalent of US$500 or a credit card.


If you enter Panama by land from Costa Rica and are not a legal resident of Costa Rica, the immigration authorities may ask you to show proof of onward or return travel to your country of legal residence.


If you arrive in Panama by sea, except via a cruise line, you will need a visa. There is a fee of $100 plus $5 registration per person for passengers and crew members of vessels.


If you choose a flight which routes via the USA and are travelling under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), you must obtain an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) prior to departure. Passengers who have not received travel authorisation via ESTA prior to travel will be denied boarding. Please note that if you are denied from boarding, or are not allowed into the US for any reason, you will still be subject to our cancellation charges in accordance with our terms and conditions. 


Airport tax


A US$40 airport tax (payable only in cash) is charged on departure. This is usually included in the airline ticket fare. Check with your carrier.
