Your Destination —
'The Northern Lights' or 'Aurora Borealis', to give them their proper name, are a natural phenomenon, totally unpredictable but a magnificent spectacle when atmospheric conditions are just right. Visible from November to April, Tromsø is one of the world's best spots from which to see the lights as well as being a city in which to enjoy yourself. We can't guarantee you'll see the Northern Lights (no one can) but we can promise the best chance possible - and numerous excursion options to make your trip one to remember.

After breakfast, gather at the reception of the hotel and meet your tour escort, who will take you for a short orientation tour around Tromsø. Based on your interest, you can visit several museums or enjoy the atmosphere of the city on your own. In the evening, enjoy a transfer to the Aurora Husky Camp. Upon arrival, you will be offered some additional clothing, to keep you warm and dry. Sit around the fire and while waiting for the northern lights to appear, enjoy the entertaining stories about the Northern Lights, Northern Norway and huskies. The highlight of the tour is yet to come - your meeting with 300 Alaskan huskies (please note the husky sledge ride is not included in this activity). A light dinner around the fire is included during the visit. Return to Tromsø after the visit for a cosy overnight stay.

Your Optional Excursions —
Our members can choose to add the following excursions at the next stage of the booking process for an additional fee - subject to availability.
Reindeer Sledding and Sami Culture Excursion (4-5 hours)
The Reindeer Sledding is an important part of the experience as it is the oldest known form of transport in the north and central regions. The sledding takes place as a "raid" where each reindeer and sled are bound together in a long row with the lead reindeer in the front. By taking part in this daytime excursion we hope you will be charmed by the fascinating reindeer and find that you love these gentle but curious and furry creatures just like we do - Our true hero in the Arctic.
Please Note: If conditions change, the supplier reserves the right to amend the duration of the reindeer sledding. Alternative: The Reindeer Sledding is subject to snow and when there is not enough snow we offer a Reindeer Feeding and Sami Culture excursion instead.
Snowmobile Safari (7 hours)
Upon your arrival at the wilderness centre of Camp Tamok, we will provide you with all the warm clothes and boots necessary. We will begin the adventure with a thorough safety introduction and practical demonstration. You do not need any previous skills to drive a snowmobile. All you need is a healthy physical condition. You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to switch places during the trip. We will embark on a tour that will bring you past scenic mountains and through the dramatic snow-covered Finndalen valley, starting at 250 m above sea level and climbing up to 900 m. The distance of the trail is 15 km each way, 30 km in total. You will be on the snowmobile for approx. 2-2.5 hours. Due to the dramatic topography, a reduced speed is maintained during parts of the trip. The top point of the trail is the ice-covered Finnvatnet lake, where you can relax and admire the scenery of Finndalen. If the time and weather permit, you can try out ice fishing on this lake. At the end of the trip, you will be served a hot meal and coffee by the open fire in a cosy dining lavvu (Sami tent).
