We Love —
- The fabulous Bergensbanen rail journey to the tiny mountain station of Myrdal; the 800 metre descent on the Flam Mountain Railway; the cruise on the Naeroyfjord, Norway’s narrowest fjord and the optional tour to Jostedalen glacier.
- Your stay at the family run Kviknes Hotel overlooking the Sognefjord with its legendary buffet supper table, bookended with two of the most centrally located city hotels in Oslo & Bergen.
- Being escorted all the way with sightseeing excursions in Oslo with its plethora of cafes, bars and eateries and Bergen with its contrasting maritime style and UNESCO listed Bryggen.

Your Itinerary —

* The journey costs approximately £15: payment by simply swiping your credit card through a ticket reader before boarding and on exit.
2nd Day – Oslo
After breakfast meet up with your guide and spend the day sightseeing and discover the Viking Capital; look the haunting image of Edvard Munch’s Scream in the eye at the National Gallery; take in the Viking Ship Museum, Nansen’s Fram or the open air Folk Museums on Bygdøy; hang out down by Aker Brygge or walk on the roof of the Opera House. At night you’re spoilt for choice with an eclectic bar & restaurant scene running the gamut from retro cocktail Bar Boca to Bent Stiansen’s Michelin starred Statholdergaarden.
3rd Day Oslo – Flåm - Balestrand
Leave early on the Bergensbanen climbing high up into the mountains to the tiny Myrdal station in Kurland where you join the eponymous mountain railway down to Flam village at the head of the Aurlandsfjord. The rail line descends 800 metres past rivers cutting through deep ravines, under 20 tunnels, snow-capped mountains with farms clinging to their sides and melt water waterfalls plunging from their peaks. Continue by shallow draft cruiser along the Naeroyfjord and across the Sognefjord to Balestrand. Overnight for two nights at the Kviknes Hotel.
4th Day – Balestrand
Choose between either watching the day go by or sailing along the Fjaerlandsfjord to the Glacier Museum and Bøyum and Suphelle glaciers. From the ship you have amazing views of the steep mountains, lush landscape and the green fjord. The village at Fjærland at the head of the glacier is where it meets the glaciers and from where you can get up close to the Jostedalen.
5th Day – Balestrand - Bergen
In the late afternoon catch the high speed express boat out along the fjord to the open sea and then south through the skerries littering the coastline into Bergen. Overnight for two nights at the Scandic Neptun Hotel.
6th Day Bergen
After breakfast enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of this Hanseatic town sitting in the embrace of seven mountains. Take in the gabled façade of Bryggen behind whose touristy boutiques are the old Hanseatic Merchants’ quarters with a clutch of buildings that have survived numerous fires and are justifiably a UNESCO heritage site. Across the harbour from your hotel is the fish market whose stock is mercifully insulated from the depredations of the EU’s fishing policy. In the afternoon a trip on the Fløybanen Funicular to Mount Fløyen with its spectacular views and marked hiking trails is a must.
7th Day – Departure
After breakfast time for a last look around (the fish market is a great place to grab lunch) before a late afternoon transfer to Flesland airport for your return flight to the UK.
