DAY 1-2: WINDHOEK - ONGUMA PRIVATE RESERVE

Day 1: Arrival into Windhoek (Breakfast)

Namibia is a wonder for anyone thirsty for wild horizons. It is geographically surrounded to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the north by Angola, to the south by the Republic of South Africa, to the east by Botswana and to the northeast by Zimbabwe and Zambia. With its grandiose and varied landscapes, Namibia offers an adventure beyond all imagination.

A tourist consultant will meet you at Windhoek International Airport, give you the travel diary and assist you with the registration process, before you head off on the road to Windhoek. Windhoek, administrative, judicial and economic capital is also the heart of Namibia. The city has kept a very important Germanic imprint that can be found along the streets and avenues, mainly in terms of architecture. Windhoek offers a friendly atmosphere with its modern hotels and welcoming guesthouses.

Here you will find a mix of races and cultures that represents the image of present day Namibia. Small town compared to other African megalopolises, Windhoek amazes with its cleanliness, calm and character as a provincial town.

Overnight stay at The Elegant Guesthouse

Day 2: Windhoek - Onguma Private Reserve (Self-Catering)

Depart on the B1, heading due north, to reach Otjiwarongo. Crossing of Okahandja, a small town famous for its craft market specialising in wooden objects. Continue on to Otjiwarongo, which means "the land of fat cattle", the beginning of the region of cultivation and breeding which stretches northeast towards Caprivi. Take the road to Namutoni, eastern entrance to Etosha National Park, called Von Lindequist, via Otavi and Tsumeb.

Suggestion: The end of the afternoon is a magical time for the animals of Etosha National Park. The heat and scorching sun subside to make room for a warmer temperature. Life resumes and pushes the thirsty animals to the various water points. An excursion at this time is a magical moment, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, etc., all are there.

Optional:

- Safari on the Onguma private reserve in an open 4x4 vehicle with English speaking guide

- Afternoon Onguma Nature drives

- Suggestion: Etosha Game Drive (pm)

DAY 3-5: ONGUMA - ETOSHA SOUTH - TWYFELFONTEIN

Day 3: Onguma - Etosha South (Self-Catering)

Suggestion: Full day safari in Etosha National Park to admire African wildlife. You will have time to browse all the trails from water point to water point to surprise the animals that come to quench their thirst.
Considered the pearl of Etosha, the Okaukuejo camp is the reserve's headquarters. Its water point attracts visitors from all over the world. The morning walks around this camp will take you on the trail of the elephants of the savannah. Known for its large numbers of Black Rhinos and for its lion families, this part of Etosha is best enjoyed early in the morning or late afternoon.

Suggestion: Etosha - Safari Day 1

Overnight stay at Etosha Safari Campsite Gondwana Collection Namibia

Sheltered by mopane trees, this campsite offers green and shaded pitches. Showers, toilets, sinks, mobile barbecues and electrical outlets are distributed over the land. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the swimming pool at Etosha Safari Camp (a two-minute walk away). They can also enjoy dinner at Okambashu Restaurant. For a typically African cheerful atmosphere, join the Oshebeena bar decorated in "township" style. Located just 5.6 miles from Andersson's Gate, this campsite is the ideal starting point for a safari in Etosha National Park.

Day 4: Etosha Safari Campsite Gondwana Collection Namibia, Etosha South (Self-Catering)

Suggestion: Full day safari in Etosha National Park aboard your vehicle to admire African wildlife.

Day 5: Etosha South - Twyfelfontein (Self-Catering)

Head out on the road towards Twyfelfontein.

Suggestion: Twyfelfontein: In the heart of Damaraland, this parietal site and its hundreds of rock engravings constitute an essential stage. Here, on a small red sandstone plateau at the foot of a source which was probably abundant for a time, a people who have now disappeared left for future generations an incredible bestiary carved on the rock. Animals that have also disappeared or still exist, various footprints, abstract representations, are all witnesses of great cave art. The visit is accompanied by a local English-speaking guide. Allow +/- 2h30 of walking.

Suggestion: Twyfelfontein Rock Art

Overnight stay at Aba-Huab Rest Camp

DAY 6-8: TWYFELFONTEIN - SWAKOPMUND - SESRIEM

Day 6: Twyfelfontein - Swakopmund (Breakfast)

Take the road to Swakopmund. You will leave the magnificent landscapes of Damaraland, composed of inselbergs, isolated rocks in the shape of islands. As you approach Uis, you admire the country's highest mountain, the Brandberg, which at an altitude of 2,573 meters is home to Bushman paintings, the best known of which is the White Lady. After Uis, you start crossing the Namib Desert. You continue your journey discovering the Atlantic Ocean which slowly emerges on the horizon.

Swakopmund, a town with a long history and a popular seaside resort on the Atlantic Ocean for Namibians. Built at the start of German colonization to serve as a port, this particularly charming city, built according to the references of Germanic architecture, has retained its uniqueness over time and political changes. The afternoon is then at your leisure to visit the city.

Overnight stay at Swakopmund Sands Hotel

Day 7: Swakopmund Sands Hotel, Swakopmund (Breakfast)

Then head out on the road to Walvis Bay.

Optional: Catamaran cruise from Walvis Bay harbor to observe marine life. Dolphines, sea lions and others at the rendezvous. Tasting of oysters on board.

Return to Swakopmund in the afternoon.

Overnight stay at Swakopmund Sands Hotel

Day 8: Swakopmund - Sesriem (Self-Catering)

Take the road to the Namib Desert. Passage of the Col de la Gaub and the Col de la Kuiseb. Folded shale geological formation through which the Kuiseb river has carved an impressive canyon. This river marks the limit between the immense rocky plains of the north and the sea of sand which joins the Orange river. Passage of the Tropic of Capricorn between the 2 passes.

Solitaire is a small town in central Namibia near the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This hamlet, which has kept its character from the 1950s, is an almost compulsory stopping point. Particularly isolated, the place is sometimes nicknamed the Namibian Bagdad Café!

Suggestion: Located just 1.5 km from the campsite, the Elim dune is an ideal stopover when you arrive in Sesriem at the end of the afternoon (valid especially if you are spending the night at the campsite).

From Sesriem you can get there on foot. The song of the Geckos will accompany you, look at the ground, you will see small burrows there where they take refuge. From the top of the dune, the panoramic view is dazzling: a belt of red dunes to the west and a vast plain in pastel colors crossed by an imposing mountain range to the east. Allow +/- 2 hours of walking.

Optional: Scenic trip to the lodge reserve at the end of the afternoon in an open 4x4 vehicle with an English-speaking guide.

Suggestion: Elim Dune

Overnight stay at Sesriem Oshana Campsite

DAY 9-11: SESRIEM OSHANA CAMPSITE, SESRIEM - NAMIB DESERT - KALAHARI DESERT

Day 9: Sesriem Oshana Campsite, Sesriem (Self-Catering)

Suggestion: The visit of the Sossusvlei site and the Tsauchab valley will allow you to discover the central Namib and its giant dunes. Sossusvlei, is above all the terminus of a river which, a few thousand years ago, flowed into the Atlantic. Today the rain has disappeared and the river no longer has the strength to reach the ocean. The dunes, driven by the wind, gradually covered the valley. In some years, the water from the river joins the foot of the dunes and forms a lake in Sossusvlei. Visiting this site in the morning is, thanks to the play of lights on the dunes, dazzling.

Discovery of Dead Vlei, a dry lake whose whiteness of the sand contrasts with the red dunes. Magic show, where only a few thousand-year-old dead trees stand out against the backdrop. You will be rewarded for your efforts when you discover the panorama from the top of a dune.

Suggestion: Sesriem, entrance to Namib-Naukluft National Park South section. Sesriem Canyon, was a vital place for the Nama, Hereros and Damara peoples. This 50 m deep gorge was dug by the Tsauchab river. Sesriem means 6 thongs, which was necessary to raise the buckets of water from the throat. The presence of a permanent spring has aroused the envy of these different peoples over the centuries. Now inhabited mainly by birds, the source and the canyon are a place of excursion.

Suggestion: Sossusvlei, Dead Vlei or Sesriem Canyon

Overnight stay at Sesriem Oshana Campsite

Day 10: Namib Desert - Kalahari Desert (Half board - dinner and breakfast included)

Leaving Sesriem, your road takes you along the Nubib Mountains to the east of the Namib Desert, the passage of the "Zaris pass" offers you an aerial view of the crevices and grooves that make this place so special. The vastness of the plain on the heights of the Maltahöhe plateau offers a landscape as far as the eye can see.

Take the road to the Kalahari Desert and the town of Mariental. The arid and semi-arid sandy desert of the Kalahari is located between the basins of the Zambezi and Orange rivers, it covers a large part of Botswana and extends towards Namibia and South Africa over an area of approximately 900,000 km² . A part of this bushy desert becomes an excellent pasture after good rains. The Kalahari Basin covers an area of 2.5 million km2, covering parts of Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, as well as Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Kalahari is still home to the people of the Bushmans, who were the first inhabitants of southern Africa.

Optional: Departure in the afternoon for a nature safari on the lodge's private reserve. You will discover this desert, from dunes to dunes, and will be able to see the antelopes which shelter in the shade of the acacias. This walk will end with an aperitif (called a sundowner by the locals) at the top of a dune to watch the sun set over the Kalahari.

Optional: Afternoon Intu Afrika Kalahari Reserve 4x4 Safari

Overnight stay at Intu Afrika Camelthorn Lodge

Day 11: Return back in the UK (Breakfast)

Head off on the road to Windhoek International Airport for your flight back home. Please arrive 2 hours before your flight.

These include: the impressive Fish River Canyon; the vast Etosha National Park teeming with abundant wildlife, such as lions, desert-adapted elephants and the Hartmann's Mountain Zebra; the hauntingly beautiful Kalahari Desert; and of course the Namib Desert stretching for over 2000 km along the magnificent Atlantic Coast.
