Your Itinerary in Detail —
Day 1-2
Day 1: Upon arrival at the international airport, you will be greeted by our representative who will review all your travel details and answer any questions you may have. He will also help you collect your rental vehicle and hand you your travel diary which will provide you with maps, directions, routes, etc. You then head to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, passing through mountainous terrain. Your accommodation is located in a quiet suburb and close to the city centre. In the evening, you can enjoy typical Namibian cuisine in one of the many restaurants in town.
Day 2: Today we head to the Otjiwarongo. Set amidst the unspoiled beauty of Namibia's oldest game farm, Otjiwa Safari Lodge is the ultimate holiday destination for those seeking an authentic African experience that meets the highest standards of international tourism. Renowned for its magnificent dams, Otjiwa is also home to rich birdlife, including the majestic African fish eagle. It truly is a place where tranquillity and adventure come together. The Otjiwa experience offers hiking trails, game drives, and bird watching against the backdrop of the sunset.
Day 3
Day 3: En route to Etosha you will notice how much the landscape changes. On the road to Outjo, the roadside Mopan trees, whose leaves glisten in the sun, appear more and more frequently among the spreading brush. If you like savoury and/or sweet pastries, a stop at Outjo Bakery is recommended before continuing to Etosha. Weather permitting, you can optionally go on your first afternoon game drive in Etosha National Park.
Day 4: Get your camera ready! Today we will experience Etosha National Park and its abundant wildlife up close and in all its glory...
For more than 100 years, zebras, elephants, giraffes, blue wildebeest, springbok, kudu and many other rare animals have roamed the park peacefully. Tourist vehicles meandering on dusty gravel roads are barely noticed. The animal kingdom is overwhelming! With a bit of luck, you may spot the lion, leopard, hyena or jackal, the most active predators at night, roaming the savannah. But birdwatchers are also rewarded with hundreds of listed species. The Etosha pan itself is a gigantic salt basin which, depending on the season, shimmers dry and dusty during the midday heat or after heavy rains, it attracts thousands of migrating birds. As soon as the sun goes down, calm settles in the park and we return to our lodge to relax and reminisce about our adventure of the day.
Day 5-6
Day 5: Slightly east of Etosha, La Rochelle Lodge offers luxury, private accommodation amidst majestic fig trees, lush gardens and winding freshwater springs. The 10,000 hectare reserve hosts a variety of native antelope and bird species. Game drives and hiking are popular activities among others.
Etosha National Park is accessed by a more scenic route via the D3001 district road before reaching Tsintsabis. Traveling further north is certainly an option for the intrepid traveller who wishes to explore the kaleidoscope of traditional villages and local culture. Other Attractions Along the Way: Etosha National Park, Oshikoto and Lake Guinas are easily accessible within a day trip. Between Tsumeb and Grootfontein is the Hoba meteorite. It is the largest meteorite in the world and is still visible where it hit the ground around 80,000 years ago.
Day 6: In true safari style, Ndhovu Safari Lodge offers luxury accommodation in 10 spacious tents, one of which is anchored on the Okavango River. Each tent is fully equipped and the beds have fabulous river views. Our double-decker "Hippo" houseboat is one of a kind. She offers a 2-3 day all-inclusive experience for 4 people on the Okavango River.
A peaceful riverside retreat located on the western shores of the Okavango, overlooking the famous Caprivi Game Park (Bwabwata National Park). An ideal location to enjoy the region's prolific flora and fauna. The lodge offers terrific cuisine, the finest wines and, above all, peace and quiet. There is a large thatched-roof lapa, a wooden terrace overlooking the river, a bar and a swimming pool.
Day 7-8
Day 7: Halfway between the two major jewels of Southern Africa: the Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls, nestled on the banks of the Kwando River (Eastern Caprivi), Camp Kwando invites you to come and explore the hidden treasures of untamed land.
Capture the spirit of the African bush as you sip a sunset on the beautiful upper deck and enjoy the thrill of fishing and the beautiful, haunting call of the African fish eagle. Activities include game drives, boat cruises, mokkoro and fishing boat trips, as well as experiencing local culture. Lazing by the pool is also a must!
Day 8: After breakfast, enjoy the activities offered by the camp, such as the morning boat cruise or the game drive in Muduma National Park.
Day 9-12
Day 9: Drive to Botswana and cross the border at Ngoma, a pretty border post overlooking the Linyanti River in Namibia which becomes the Chobe River in Botswana. In the evening, enjoy a cruise.
Day 10: With a non-privatised vehicle, head to Victoria Falls and cross the Zimbabwe border at Kasangula.
Day 11: After breakfast, discover why Victoria Falls is one of Earth's Seven Natural Wonders on a guided walking tour. Witness the sheer and thunder of the falls, as millions of tons of water tumble over the ridge into the narrow gorge, where the Zambezi continues its eastward course 110 meters deep, towards the 'Indian Ocean. Next, visit a craft market, where you can buy or view handmade crafts by local residents. Back at your accommodation, enjoy the rest of the day to relax.
