Culinary culture
Kotor’s cuisine is a fusion of Mediterranean freshness and Balkan heartiness. Expect seafood plucked straight from the bay—grilled octopus, black risotto, or mussels in buzara sauce (a garlicky white wine broth). Njeguški pršut (dry-cured ham) and local cheeses are must-tries, best paired with a glass of Vranac, Montenegro’s rich red wine. Good to know
Montenegro uses the euro (€), though it’s not part of the EU. Summer brings crowds and cruise ships, while spring and autumn offer milder weather and fewer tourists. Kotor is best explored on foot, but taxis and buses connect nearby highlights like Perast and Budva.
