Day 2: Amman and the Desert Castles of Jordan
Begin your day with breakfast served at the hotel. Today you will explore the Desert Castles of Jordan! Built between the 7th and 8th centuries CE by the Umayyad Caliphate, these fortified palatial complexes were, and remain to an extent, ornate displays of power and wealth on this strategic trade route. The exact function of these 'qufur' buildings remains unclear; they appear to have been rural retreats for the ruling classes, in-part grand hunting lodges and farm houses, in-part bathhouses and caravanserais for hosting weary travellers. You will be shown around three of the most notable qufurs, so you can appreciate their splendour for yourself.
Return to Amman for a city tour, and discover the ancient and modern capital of Jordan, originally built on seven hills and from the top of the citadel, one of the highest hills; you can have a splendid view of the old city. Visit the Citadel, Roman Theatre, Archaeology and Folklore Museums, and King Abdullah Mosque.
Overnight in Amman.
Day 3 & 4
Day 3: Amman, Jerash & Ajloun
Fuel up with breakfast at your hotel before your transfer to visit Jerash. Today you will participate in a tour through the colonnaded streets of the ancient Roman city of Gerasa, as your English-speaking guide brings to life the history of the amphitheatre, Churches, temples and the vast Roman Forum. The city's golden age came under Roman rule, and the site is now generally acknowledged to be one of the best-preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. Hidden for centuries beneath the sand before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years, Jerash reveals a fine example of the grand, formal provincial urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East.
Continue to Ajloun, proceed through pine forests and olive groves to visit the mighty Castle of Ajloun, a major ancient monument within the Ajloun region. Built by one of Saladin’s generals in 1184 AD, the castle was destined to control the local iron mines of Ajloun and to counter the progress of the Crusaders.
Overnight in Amman.
Day 4: Amman - Madaba - Mt. Nebo - Shobak - Petra
Breakfast and check-out of your accommodation in Amman before a visit of Madaba (City of Mosaics), where you will see the unique map of the Holy Land in St. George Church 6th C. AD. Proceed to visit the Sanctuary at Mount Nebo the (Memorial burial place of Prophet Moses). Mount Nebo’s first church was built in the late fourth century to mark the site.
Continue to visit Shobak Castle, built during the crusader times, nearly 900 years ago, Shobak Castle appears like a natural extension of the dramatic hill it is perched upon. The castle and its surrounding group of ten villages were inhabited until the 1950s. It is constructed precariously on the side of a mountain, with a grand sweep of fruit trees below. Less than an hour north of Petra can be found this lonely reminder of former Crusader glory. The castle's exterior is impressive, with a foreboding gate and encircling triple wall. Despite the precautions of its builder, the fortress fell to Saladin only 75 years after it was built. Inscriptions by his proud successors appear on the castle wall.
Overnight in Petra.
Day 5 & 6
Day 5: Petra
Breakfast at your hotel in Petra. Today you will visit the unique "Rose-Red" city of Petra, and witness the monumental tombs, palaces, temples and treasury carved into the desert rock’s sandstone. Begin the trip by horseback riding for 700m to reach the entrance of the impressive narrow gorge (Siq). Glimpse the Treasury, continue to the street of facades, and see the Royal Tombs, the Cardo, Temples, Churches, and Museums.
A world wonder, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Jordan’s most valuable treasure, Petra is Jordan’s greatest tourist attraction. It is a vast and unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabatean's, an industrious Arab civilization, who settled here more than 2000 years ago.
Overnight in Petra.
Day 6: Petra - Little Petra - Wadi Rum
Breakfast at your hotel in Petra and meet your transfer to ‘Little Petra’, a small settlement just north of Petra proper. Once an important suburb of the ancient town, this is where successful merchants entertained their counterparts from the Silk Road. Approach the ruins through a narrow gorge known as Siq al-Barid, or ‘the cold Siq’, so named because its towering cliffs prevent any sunlight from reaching it. The Siq runs for 350 metres between the immense, rust-coloured rock, and opens up three times along its length.
Continue to Wadi Rum. You will venture on an excursion within the largest and most magnificent of Jordan's deserts, known also as Valley of moon. Enjoy a thrilling 4x4 off-road SUV Tour for 2 hours, and discover the majestic landscapes surrounding you.
Overnight at Wadi Rum.
Day 7 & 8
Day 7: Wadi Rum - Aqaba
After breakfast, meet your transfer to Aqaba, where you will enjoy some time at leisure. The city retains a relaxed small-town atmosphere despite its growing developments. Discover its major landmarks: right by the coast is a sixteenth century Mamluk castle, now commonly referred to as Aqaba fort. Originally built as a ‘khan’-a traveller’s inn for pilgrims on their way to Mecca- it became the site of one of the First World War’s most famous battles, when Arab Revolt forces took the town from its Ottoman occupiers.
The main draw of Aqaba is its fabulous coast, hugging the warm waters of the Red Sea. Some of the region’s best coral reefs are around Aqaba, and make for excellent snorkelling, diving and swimming adventures. If you prefer to stay dry, there are a number of glass-bottomed boat tours that reveal the wonders of the underwater world without needing to jump in yourself. Alternatively, you can grab a book and relax on one of the nearby beaches.
Overnight in Aqaba.
Day 8: Aqaba - Dead SeaBreakfast at the hotel and meet your transfer. Today, you will visit the lowest spot on earth! 398m (1306 ft.) below sea level - the Dead Sea. A time for leisure and swimming. Enjoy the bizarre sensation of floating on water nine times saltier than regular seawater. The therapeutic water of the Dead Sea, combined with the valley’s fertile land and warm climate, have attracted people to live, hunt and farm in the area since the Stone Age.
Overnight at the Dead Sea.
Day 9, 10 & 11
Day 9: Dead Sea
Breakfast and enjoy the remainder of the day at your own leisure around the Dead Sea. Relax at your hotel or take advantage of a number of excursions available around the Dead Sea and the surrounding countryside if you prefer something more active.
Overnight at the Dead Sea.
Day 10: Dead Sea - Pella - Umm Qais - Amman
Your last day! Breakfast and meet your transfer to Jordan Valley and the road which leads to the ruins of Pella. The city was the site of one of Christianity’s earliest churches, and it acted as a refuge for early Christians in the 1st century CE. Pella is a favourite among archaeologists as it is exceptionally rich in antiquities, some of which are exceedingly old. Besides the excavated ruins from the Graeco-Roman period, including a theatre, Pella offers visitors the opportunity to see the remains of a Chalcolithic settlement from the 4th millennium BCE, the remains of Bronze and Iron Age walled cities, Byzantine churches and houses, an Early Islamic residential quarter, and a small medieval mosque.
Continue to Umm Qais, the site of the famous "miracle of the Gadareane swine". Over the years, Gadara was never lost its reputation as a cultural centre. It was the home of several classical poets and philosophers, including Theodorus, founder of a rhetorical school in Rome. The remains hang onto a splendid hilltop overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee, which is now known as Umm Qais. On your visit, admire the impressive colonnaded street, vaulted terrace, and the ruins of two theatres.
Overnight in Amman.

After check-out of your hotel, meet your transfer to Queen Alia International Airport for your return flight home.

Frequently referred to as one of the seven new Wonders of the World, this architectural masterpiece is a must-stop spot on any tourist's itinerary in Jordan
For those hoping to escape the arid climate of the desert, we recommend taking advantage of Jordan's coastline with a visit to the Dead Sea.
