Jordan is a hugely popular destination, offering varied activities and cultural sites of great historical importance such as Petra and Jerash. Alongside it's rich heritage known worldwide, the country is also home to the nature reserves and the incomparable Wadi Rum Desert. The order of your itinerary depends on the day on which you arrive in Amman.

First Day: Arrival in Amman at Queen Alia International Airport
Monday: Jerash & Ajloun
Tuesday: Iraq El Amir, Dead Sea & Amman
Wednesday: Madaba, Mt Nebo & Kerak Castle
Thursday: Petra la Rose – Wadi Rum
Friday: Wadi Rum - 4x4 Jeep tour in Wadi Rum Desert (1.5 hours)
Saturday: Amman - half-day traditional food tasting
Sunday: Amman and the Desert Castles of Jordan
(Last day): Departure from Queen Alia International Airport

Please note that the order or availability of activities will be changed depending on your arrival and departure days. For example: for members arriving on Wednesdays, the Madaba, Mt Nebo & Kerak Castle excursions will be omitted.

DAY 1: (FRIDAY) AMMAN

Upon arrival at Amman airport, you will be transferred to the hotel and will spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Amman.

DAY 2: (SATURDAY) HALF-DAY TRADITIONAL FOOD TASTING

After breakfast, head out to explore Amman on foot, and make your first stop at a bakery near Bayader bus station, to taste one of Amman's best traditional desserts (asabea zainab and awwameh). Walk to Hussini Mosque, and continue to the Vegetable Market. Lunch will be in a traditional restaurant known in the capital (Hashem restaurant) where you will embark on a tasting journey! Next stop is Habiba where you will sample Kunafa, before walking to the Roman Theatre. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Please note, the local food tasting experience on Saturdays is subject to a minimum of 10 people and is a shared tour.

Begin your day with breakfast served at the hotel. Today you will explore the Desert Castles of Jordan! Built between the 7th and 8th centuries CE by the Umayyad Caliphate, these fortified palatial complexes were, and remain to an extent, ornate displays of power and wealth on this strategic trade route. The exact function of these 'qufur' buildings remains unclear; they appear to have been rural retreats for the ruling classes, in-part grand hunting lodges and farm houses, in-part bathhouses and caravanserais for hosting weary travellers. You will be shown around three of the most notable qufurs, so you can appreciate their splendour for yourself.

Return to Amman for a city tour, and discover the ancient and modern capital of Jordan, originally built on seven hills and from the top of the citadel, one of the highest hills; you can have a splendid view of the old city. Visit the Citadel, Roman Theatre, Archaeology and Folklore Museums, and King Abdullah Mosque. Overnight in Amman.

DAY 4: (MONDAY) JERASH & AJLOUN

Fuel up with breakfast at your hotel before your transfer to visit Jerash. Today you will participate in a tour through the colonnaded streets of the ancient Roman city of Gerasa, as your English-speaking guide brings to life the history of the amphitheatre, Churches, temples and the vast Roman Forum. The city's golden age came under Roman rule, and the site is now generally acknowledged to be one of the best-preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. Hidden for centuries beneath the sand before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years, Jerash reveals a fine example of the grand, formal provincial urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East.

Continue to Ajloun, proceed through pine forests and olive groves to visit the mighty Castle of Ajloun, a major ancient monument within the Ajloun region. Built by one of Saladin’s generals in 1184 AD, the castle was destined to control the local iron mines of Ajloun and to counter the progress of the Crusaders. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. 

Breakfast at the hotel and depart towards the west of Amman to Iraq El Amir and its Hellenistic Castle (2nd Century BC). This amazing building is inspired by Greek and Oriental architecture and looks like a Roman palace. Drive to the Dead Sea for lunch and a swim. One of the most spectacular natural and spiritual landscapes in the world, the Dead Sea marks the lowest point on Earth. Return to the hotel in Amman for an overnight stay.

DAY 6: (WEDNESDAY) MADABA, MT NEBO, KERAK & PETRA

Breakfast at the hotel drive along the 2,000-year-old Kings Highway; the ancient road mentioned in the Bible, which links prehistoric villages from the Stone Age and biblical towns. Stop at Madaba, ‘The City of Mosaics’; 30 km south of Amman. Visit the town’s main attraction, the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George where the famous 6th Century Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land and other biblical sites are found.

Proceed to Mt. Nebo, known as the burial place of Prophet Moses. The mountain, which rises to 840 m altitude, offers a spectacular view of the Holy Land. Continue driving via the King's Highway, which links prehistoric villages from the Stone Age, and biblical towns. In Kerak, you will visit the fortress. Proceed to Petra for dinner and an overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for a full-day tour of Petra. The pink city of "Petra", "Eighth Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Heritage Site", is the most famous site in Jordan and arguably in the Middle East. Cross the Siq, a long and narrow fault line caused by a prehistoric earthquake. At the end of the Siq appears Petra's most majestic monument, "Al Khazneh" or the "Treasury" with its Greco-Roman decoration. Beyond the Treasury are hundreds of sculpted buildings, temples, royal tombs, houses, burial chambers and houses, party halls, baths, monumental staircases, arched doors, cobbled streets and, above all, the Roman Theatre with seating for around 3000. In the afternoon, ascent to Mount El Deir or the monastery (optional) and enjoy free time to explore. 

A two-hour drive will take you to your next destination. Stunning in its natural beauty, Wadi Rum epitomises the romance of the desert. With its "moonscape" of ancient valleys and towering sandstone mountains rising out of the sand, Wadi Rum is also home to several Bedouin tribes who live in scattered camps throughout the area. Wadi Rum's "overnight" experience is unlike any other! Where you can also experience the joy of sleeping under the stars and sampling food that reflects true Bedouin generosity and local hospitality. Dinner and overnight stay. 

DAY 8: (FRIDAY) WADI RUM & DEPARTURE FROM AMMAN

Enjoy your last breakfast, and prepare yourself for a 4x4 ride in the desert for about an hour and a half. Dust off- and hop into your final transfer to the airport. Benefit from assistance with formalities for a smooth departure from Jordan. End of services.
