Your Destination —
Amman, the capital of Jordan, is a fascinating city where modern commercial centres rub shoulders with traditional coffee shops and artisan workshops. The ancient city of Jerash is acknowledged to be one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world, and Jordan's desert castles, beautiful examples of early Islamic art and architecture, are fascinating.
Petra, the ‘rose-red city’, a vast, unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans is without doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction. Less than an hour’s drive away, Wadi Rum is the largest and most magnificent of Jordan’s desert landscapes, with monolithic mountains (‘jabal’), towering above a small Bedouin Village.

Day 2: Amman - Jerash - Amman
After breakfast, set out for your departure to visit the ancient Roman City of Jerash. After Petra, this is the most important monument in Jordan. Nowadays it is considered one of the most well-preserved of Roman Cities in the Middle East. You can enjoy the streets, gazing at the columns, great Temples & theatres, hot springs, sources and the walls. In the afternoon, return to Amman, where a panoramic tour of the Capital of Kingdom will take place. Then enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.
After breakfast depart to drive along the 2000-year-old King’s Road; the ancient road mentioned in the Bible, which links prehistoric villages from the Stone Age and biblical towns. Stop at Madaba, ‘The City of Mosaics’; 30km south of Amman, with its 14 churches. A Byzantine bishop founded a school of mosaics. It reached its apogee during the centuries V and VI. Visit the town’s main attraction, the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George where the famous 6th Century Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land and other biblical sites is found. This is also where you can see the map of Palestine, excavated in year 1898. It is a 6th century mosaic, which gives us an idea of the Middle East Byzantine.
Proceed to Mt. Nebo, known as the burial place of Prophet Moses. The mountain, which rises to 840m altitude, offers a spectacular view of the Holy Land. Continue driving via the Kings Highway, which links prehistoric villages from the Stone Age, and biblical towns, to arrive at Petra for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Petra
After breakfast, you will embark on a full day visit of the “Pink City”, capital of Nabateans and one of the 7 Wonders of the World. The Treasure is without doubt the most attractive and iconic site of this Monument City. Celebrating in 2012 the 200th year of its rediscovery, the ancient Nabatean city of Petra was recently voted as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is without a doubt Jordan’s most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction. In 1985 Petra was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will then have an afternoon stop at the in the centre of Petra Village. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel in Petra.
After breakfast, drive only 10 minutes to visit Little Petra, ‘Al-Beidha’ an important suburb of the City of Petra. You will enter the site through a narrow gorge called Siq al-Barid, the "cold Siq". The name refers to the circumstance that the high walls prevent sunlight from entering the canyon and warming it. The Siq is 350 meters long with three wider areas inside. It is believed Little Petra was an important suburb of Petra, being the entry and exit point for the trade routes to the north and north-west. Here the caravans from the Negev, Gaza, Jerusalem, Egypt and the Mediterranean coast arrived, had a rest and engaged in trade. Like in Petra, buildings had been carved into the sandstone, used as residences, storages and tombs, with water channels and cisterns.
Continue to Wadi Rum, Jordan’s vast and echoing desert, for a 4x4 jeep ride (details below). Stunning in its natural beauty, Wadi Rum epitomizes the romance of the desert. With its "moonscape" of ancient valleys and towering sandstone mountains rising out of the sand, Wadi Rum is also home to several Bedouin tribes who live in scattered camps throughout the area. Climbers are especially attracted to Wadi Rum because of its sheer granite and sandstone cliffs, while hikers enjoy its vast empty spaces. Wadi Rum is probably best known because of its connection with the enigmatic British officer T.E. Lawrence, who was based here during the Great Arab Revolt of 1917-18. Much of David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia was filmed in Wadi Rum. At the end of the visit, you will depart back to Ammam for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast depart for the Dead Sea to enjoy its beaches known for their high concentration of salts. It is without a doubt an unforgettable experience. The Dead Sea has a particular climate, covering an area of 920 km2. The maximum depth is 399m and it has the lowest level on earth. This intense body of water is so named as it is thought to have a concentration of salt too high for marine life to inhabit it. You can find many large salt deposits along the shoreline which make great souvenirs and show the sheer amount of salt that lies within the water. Return to Amman. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Amman
Enjoy breakfast before your transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
