Rome —
A city with a history spanning 28 centuries, Rome encompasses ancient ruins, Renaissance elegance, and modern style, all in one short trip. In this way, the city is a glorious architectural patchwork - begin at the ancient Roman Forum and Colosseum, before stopping by the Baroque masterpiece of the Trevi Fountain on the way to the glamorous shopping district of Via dei Condotti.
Looking over the city skyline, it’s hard to miss the many church spires - this is a city filled with religious monuments, and none is more conspicuous than the grand St. Peter’s Basilica within the independent state of the Vatican City. Within this tiny city, art-lovers will be thrilled to spend time in the Vatican Museums, housing some of the world’s most important examples of Renaissance art as well as the Sistine Chapel.
Elsewhere in the city, sample some authentic Italian coffee while standing at a bar like a true local, or treat yourself to the city’s best pizza - the Roman speciality of a square pizza offered by the slice can be found on most street corners. To relax and take in the city views, walk up to the Pincio Gardens - the perfect place to see a romantic sunset over Piazza del Popolo and the Vatican.
