Your Itinerary —
Travel to Marseille where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay.
DAY 2 : Marseille, France.
France's largest commercial seaport, cosmopolitan Marseille is the capital of Provence and boasts an intriguing 2,600-year-old history. With a scenic old harbour at its heart, it's renowned as the home of bouillabaisse - a clue to its great culinary reputation. Delve into its past at Borely Castle, the buzzing Old Port and Cathedral Notre Dame, a 19th century church adorned with boat-shaped offerings from local sailors. Includes Breakfast.
DAY 3 : Marseille, France to embark.
Enjoy the morning at leisure before transferring to the cruise port to embark MSC Armonia for your seven-night cruise. Includes Breakfast, Dinner.
Menorca is the second largest of Spain's Balearic Islands and Mahon, its charismatic capital, sits on the east coast in one of Europe's spectacular natural harbours, which was used by the British in the 18th century as a base for their naval fleet. Stroll around its charming town centre to visit traditional shops, restaurants and the outdoor market, or perhaps view the delightful Santa Maria Church and picturesque, hilly Old Quarter. Alternatively, join an optional island tour for the ancient, honey-toned capital of Ciutadella and the whitewashed fishing village of Fornells, amongst other sights, or simply enjoy one of the island's many sandy beaches - sunbathing and swimming in the island's turquoise waters. Includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Cagliari, the largest island in Sardinia, has a wealth of places to explore. The castello or castle district is the oldest and highest part of the city, an ideal place to wander around at leisure. Perhaps visit the Castello district housing the striking Romanesque Cathedral of Santa Maria and museum, the Archbishop's Palace and San Pancrazio Towers. The Marina district, near the port, is a bustle of arcaded streets with cafes and shops and a great place to sit and watch the world go by. Includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Ruled by the medieval Knights of St John for 270 years, sun-drenched Malta has an intensely warm-hearted culture. The honey-stoned capital, Valletta, fringes a spectacular Grand Harbour and bursts with stepped alleyways, bustling cafés and rich monuments. Today there's free time to admire its gems, perhaps wandering its Upper Barracca Gardens or marvelling at the sumptuous St John's Co-Cathedral, which houses Caravaggio's masterpiece, 'The Beheading of St John the Baptist'. Also see the Grand Master's Palace, home to Malta's government for four centuries. Includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
An 8th century Greek colony, Messina is your gateway for some of Sicily's greatest sights. Perhaps take optional excursion to the beautiful clifftop seaside resort of Taormina, which boasts a stunning Greco-Roman theatre or head for Mount Etna, Europe's largest active volcano. Includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Naples is an exhilarating city, set in a breathtaking position between mighty Mount Vesuvius and the shimmering Bay of Naples. Explore the wealth of cultural treasures at leisure or join an optional trip to either beautiful Capri island, the remarkable remains of Pompeii or the soaring slopes and crater of Mount Vesuvius National Park. Includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
The vibrant Italian city of Genoa circles a fine harbour and once rivalled Venice as a maritime power. The birthplace of Christopher Columbus, its captivating old town is threaded with 'caruggi' - steep medieval lanes dotted with rich churches. Includes Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
