Visit the Irish Whiskey Museum in the heart of Dublin's city centre to embark on a journey through Irish whiskey's history and tradition, followed by a tasting of different Irish tipples. In the evening, visit the Temple Bar Pub, where you will find the biggest selection of Irish whiskeys and a total of 410 bottles of Irish, Scotch and Bourbon!
Overnight in Co. Dublin.
Leave Dublin after breakfast and head westwards. Your first stop will be the Kilbeggan Distillery, the oldest distillery in the world which dates back to 1757. After joining a public tour, you will be treated to a tasting at the bar. Travel on to Tullamore, home to the Tullamore Dew Distillery, the 2nd best in the world when it comes to Irish whiskeys. Stop in Tullamore town for a visit to the Brewery Tap or Hugh’s Lynch Pub, where you will find every Tullamore Dew currently available (Brewery Tap). Alternatively, try one of the Whiskey tasting packages (Hugh’s Lynch Pub).
Overnight in Co. Galway.
Today you will explore the rough, but beautiful landscape of Connemara. Due to the meagre resources, Connemara is one of the loneliest areas in Ireland, having been hit hard during the famine in the 19th century when most of the population emigrated. Today, Connemara is one of the Gaeltacht areas, a heritage zone for Celtic language and culture, where you will find traditions which have become rare in other parts of Ireland. Visit Kylemore Abbey, a Victorian Castle, which is now home to a community of Benedictine Nuns. Visit Eddie’s Bar in Clonbur for a Whiskey tasting and a wide offering of local dishes. In the evening, visit Freeney’s Pub and enjoy a selection of 50 different Whiskeys at the roaring coal fire.
Overnight in Co. Galway.
Leave Galway after breakfast for County Clare and Kerry. En route, you will pass the Burren region south of Galway, one of the largest limestone landscape regions in Europe and home to over 2000 rare plants and flowers. Stop at the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher, which fall over 200m into the raging Atlantic ocean. Visit Bunratty Castle, one of Irelands oldest Norman castles in Ireland, and the folk park, where you can learn more about life in rural Ireland in the 18th and 19th century. Pay a visit to the Creamery Bar in Bunratty, where you can enjoy a tasty pint of Guinness complete with a fine choice of 25 different Irish Whiskeys for serving. Continue to Kerry for your overnight stay.
Overnight in Kerry.
Today, you will follow one of Ireland's finest and best know scenic routes – the Ring of Kerry. This 170 km long coastal road will bring you through small villages, past beautiful views over the Atlantic ocean and across green landscapes. Visit Killarney National Park in the afternoon and take walk to Torc Waterfall. At the end of the Ring, you can take a public tour of Muckross House and Gardens, one of Irelands finest and best kept Mansion Houses. Visit Courtney’s Bar in Killarney in the evening, which offers the best range of Whiskey’s (over 30 Irish and 30 Scottish whiskey’s) in town!
Overnight in Co. Kerry.
Take the scenic coastal road from Killarney to Cork via Kenmare and Bantry for some beautiful views and beaches. After some sightseeing in Cork, stop at the Old Country Bar in Douglas just outside Cork, a pub dedicated to Whiskey and holding its own Irish Whiskey corner. Visit the Midleton Jameson Distillery in the afternoon, where you can take a public tour complete with a tasting at the Jameson Bar. All Jameson Whiskey is produced in Midleton today. Pay a visit to Canty’s Pub in Midleton, which has every brand distilled in Midleton in stock and is a popular place for the distillery workers to hang out after shifts.
Overnight in Co. Cork.
Visit Kilkenny in the morning, Ireland’s best known medieval town. Stroll through some of the Kilkenny craft shops or visit Kilkenny Castle, an Anglo-Norman castle dating from the 12th century. Stop for lunch at Dylan Whiskey Bar in the centre of Kilkenny, a bar dedicated to the former DWD Whiskey distilled in Kilkenny, complete with a 19th-century old world atmosphere. You will reach Dublin again in the afternoon, where you can visit O'Neill's Bar near Trinity College, where you will find a large Whiskey collection spread over two floors and a dedicated Whiskey bar on the second floor.
