DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN REYKJAVIK
Upon arrival in Iceland, you'll collect your car directly from Keflavík International Airport. Your adventure begins right away as you drive through the lunar landscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula. This unique, volcanic landscape, adorned with moss-covered rocks and framed by distant mountains, serves as a mesmerising gateway to Iceland's natural marvels. You'll spend your first night in Reykjavík, the country's vibrant capital.

DAY 2: SNÆFELLSNES PENINSULA
Set off north-west towards the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. This region, often referred to as "Iceland in Miniature", captures the very essence of the country, with its geological diversity, mystical atmosphere and spectacular coastal panoramas.
Your first stop after the town of Borgarnes will be Gerðuberg Basalt Columns, an impressive wall of beautifully formed hexagonal basalt columns. Next, visit Ytri Tunga beach, known for its golden sands and seals lounging on the rocks. Continue to the charming coastal villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar, connected by a scenic walking trail offering magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean.
From here, head to Snæfellsjökull National Park, where you'll find the 700,000-year-old glacier-capped Snæfellsjökull volcano. Explore scenic trails, lava caves like Vatnshellir, and coastal highlights such as Djúpalónssandur, a striking black pebble beach once home to a thriving fishing village. Don’t miss Kirkjufell near Grundarfjörður, Iceland’s most photographed mountain, paired perfectly with the nearby Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall. End your day in the charming town of Stykkishólmur.

DAY 3: BORGARFJÖRÐUR
From Stykkishólmur, head south to Borgarfjörður, a region steeped in sagas and natural wonders. Your first stop is Reykholt, the former home of medieval historian, poet and politician Snorri Sturluson. Here you can visit Snorri's geothermal pool and a museum recounting his life and writings.
Continue to Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring, impressive for its steaming, boiling water. Afterwards, a short drive takes you to the unique Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Hraunfossar, known as the "Lava Waterfalls", is a stunning series of cascades emerging from beneath a lava field, while nearby Barnafoss, or "Children's Falls", is steeped in legend, adding a mystical air to its rushing blue waters.
Your day concludes in Borgarnes, a small coastal town with a beautiful view over the fjord. With cafés, museums and plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking and birdwatching, Borgarnes is the perfect place to unwind and end your day.

DAY 4: GOLDEN CIRCLE
This day begins with a drive south to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which lies on the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Hike along the park trails, explore the Almannagjá fissure and admire the Öxarárfoss waterfall.
Continue your journey to the Geysir geothermal area in Haukadalur valley. Although the Great Geysir is mostly dormant, you’ll be amazed by its neighbour Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes, sending boiling water up to 30 meters into the air.
A short drive from Geysir brings you to Gullfoss, or "Golden Falls", one of Iceland's most stunning waterfalls, with several viewpoints to appreciate the waterfall's beauty from different angles. The day ends in the lively town of Selfoss, where you'll find plenty of services, shops, restaurants and a welcoming atmosphere to relax after your adventures.

DAY 5: SOUTH SHORE
Driving along Iceland's south coast is an expedition through some of the most breathtaking scenery the island has to offer. Start at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where the water cascades over a cliff into a serene pool below, allowing visitors to walk behind the falls for a unique perspective.
Continue to Skógafoss, a powerful waterfall famous for its impressive height and frequent rainbows. Nearby, you can find Dyrhólaey, which offers panoramic ocean views and a natural sea arch, as well as Reynisfjara beach, known for its black sand, basalt columns, and strong waves. Finish the afternoon in the picturesque village of Vík í Mýrdal, with its iconic church overlooking the sea. Make your way back to Selfoss towards the end of the day.

DAY 6: REYKJANES PENINSULA - BLUE LAGOON
Start with a visit to the coastal church of Strandarkirkja, a place steeped in legend and serenity. Continuing south, admire the brilliant geothermal colours of Seltún, then discover the small harbour town of Grindavík. Here you can relax in the warm, milky waters of the famous Blue Lagoon (entrance fee at an extra cost).
Keep exploring along the rugged coastline all the way to the natural pool of Brimketill, carved out of lava, and then on to Gunnuhver, a geothermally active area with steaming vents and mud pools. Marvel at the stunning cliffs of Reykjanestá, crowned by the historic Reykjanesviti Lighthouse, before walking across the Bridge Between Continents, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. A final drive through the lava fields brings you back to Reykjavík, where you'll spend your last night in Iceland.

DAY 7: DEPARTURE FROM REYKJAVIK
Leave your accommodation in Reykjavík and drive to Keflavík International Airport. Dropping off your car hire at the airport marks the end of your Icelandic adventure.
