Your Itinerary —
The rest of the day is open for your own activities. We suggest a walk in the Old Town area with galleries, museums, restaurants and pubs. A visit to one of the city´s geothermal swimming pools is a great way to shake off jet lag and a very Icelandic activity. It is also a great way to meet Icelanders. The City Park Hotel is within walking distance of the popular Laugardalurslaug geothermal pool, the largest one in Reykjavík, as well as the relaxing Laugar Spa, the year-round botanical gardens, and the intriguing Ásmundur Sveinsson sculpture museum.
The hotel is about a 20 minute easy walk to Laugavegur, the main shopping street and the Hlemmur area, which is emerging as a cool place for pubs, restaurants and musical entertainment. A city bus stop is located near the hotel for your convenience.
The Geysir geothermal area boasts spouting springs, including Strokkur, the most active geyser in Iceland. Take a walk on the paths and take in the quirky bubbling mud pots and bubbling steam and hot water. At Gullfoss you can stand next to this amazing waterfall, watching enormous quantities of water tumble violently into a deep, meandering gorge. If you are lucky, you might see a rainbow crowning the falls.
Afterwards, get to know a cross-section of Iceland's natural wonders and geological phenomena at Thingvellir National Park, an area of historical and geological significance. This is where the great European and North American tectonic plates meet and where the Vikings held their annual parliament starting in 930 AD.
The tour ends in the early evening, giving you good time to enjoy the longer daylight hours with a late evening excursion or enjoy dinner and a night on the town.

The Secret Lagoon is ideal for those seeking an Icelandic hot spring experience based in history and geology.
Enjoy an unguided transfer taking you through the beautiful scenery of South Iceland. Head to Flúðir, a town that uses the many hot springs of the area to grow organic vegetables year-round. The hot water also provides idyllic relaxation at one of Iceland‘s hidden treasures, the Gamla Lauginn, also known as the Secret Lagoon. This natural crystal-clear lagoon is one of the oldest natural geothermal pools in Iceland. It is surrounded by beautiful, active small geysers that erupt every few minutes. Originally, this natural pool was built in the 19th century to teach Icelanders in the rural area how to swim. Eventually, a newer pool was built in Flúðir and finally the Secret Lagoon was upgraded to have modern changing rooms and facilities. Despite these renovations, the original peaceful and down-to-earth atmosphere remains, along with the historical buildings.
The hot water temperature is 36-40°C (97 – 104°F), providing pleasant relaxation for the body and soul. Here you will also find walking paths that take you past various geysers and bubbling hot springs so you can discover more about the area's unique geology. We advise taking a walk in the area before you change to go into the water.
After relaxing in the area, you will be taken back to Reykjavík, arriving around 16:30 (4:30pm) to enjoy a full evening of the city's culinary and cultural treasures.
