Lindos —
Lindos, on the eastern coast of Rhodes, combines ancient history with timeless island charm. Its whitewashed houses tumble down towards a turquoise bay, while the acropolis dominates the hilltop above. Wandering through its narrow lanes and traditional courtyards, visitors experience a unique harmony of past and present, framed by sweeping views across the Aegean.
Must-sees:
- Acropolis of Lindos: An ancient citadel with temples, fortifications and sweeping views over the bay.
- St Paul’s Bay: A sheltered cove of crystal waters, said to be where the apostle landed in 51 AD.
- Village of Lindos: A labyrinth of cobbled alleys, whitewashed houses and rooftop terraces overlooking the sea.
- Church of Panagia: A 14th-century church with striking frescoes and a distinctive bell tower.
Culinary culture:
Lindos offers both traditional tavernas and stylish rooftop restaurants. Savour dishes such as moussaka, grilled octopus and fresh sardines, accompanied by local wines from Rhodes. End your meal with melekouni, a sesame and honey sweet often served at celebrations.

Good to know:
Lindos is about 50 km from Rhodes Town and easily reached by car, bus or boat. The best time to visit is during the summer months (June to August), when the village is at its most vibrant and the sea at its warmest. The local currency is the euro (EUR).
