Your Destination

The largest of the Greek islands, Crete is an enchanting hub of dreamy villages, ancient treasures, sun-drenched beaches and divinely silky sea-waters - all wrapped up in the embrace of the locals' warm hospitality.

Crete is the birthplace of the Minoan people, said to be the first advanced society on European soil, who ruled over 4000 years ago. Here, you can find remains of this remarkable civilisation in various archaeological sites dotted over the island, including the famous Palace of Knossos. Home to soft, sandy beaches in the north, a cliff-studded coast in the south, rugged mountains and Europe's largest gorge; Crete is the perfect destination for outdoor adventurers and beach-seekers.

Kosta Mare Palace & Resort 4*

The Kosta Mare Palace & Resort 4* seamlessly combines original Mediterranean architecture with modern buildings, offering not only comfort but style and a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel is situated directly by the long beach of Anissaras, just 4 km from the lively centre of Chersonissos.

The world-famous Palace of Knossos (centre of the Minoan culture) is only 25 km away and the excavations at Malia can be found 15 km east of the hotel.
Golf enthusiasts need only drive 3 km to find the Golf Club of Chersonissos. The same road there also leads to the Lassithi Plateau, where, according to Greek mythology, Zeus, the father of the Gods, was born.

Please Note: Bathing shoes are recommended for use in the sea due to the rough ground.

Some services may incur additional charges, payable locally.

You'll also learn about the traditional "Komboloi" - where pearls are threaded to pass time or calm nerves. You’ll also get to make your own "Komboloi". Lastly, you will walk along a small street that leads to the picturesque "kagenion" of Katerina's mother, where you will enjoy a home-made Cretan lunch while enjoying views of Heraklion.

This 4x4 tour takes you to discover the authentic side of Crete. Learn more about mythology through nature and the local life. Your driver will pick you up at the entrance to your hotel at which point your tour will start. The first stop is Aposelemi Dam. Wander down the trails and olive groves to reach the ruins of the Lyttos Roman aqueduct.

Climb the mountain following the Minoan path that will lead you to a local shepherd. Here, you will have the chance to feed his goats and then taste homemade cheese.

You will then continue your journey to the magnificent viewpoint where you will admire the ancient path of the Minoans and the Lassithi plateau. Land Rover Safari - Nida, the heart of Crete

Your Optional Excursions
This superb excursion allows you to discover the highest mountains on the island. Visit traditional villages, caves, vineyards, and discover the mythology and local Cretan life. Start your day in Gazi by heading off-piste trails as you venture alongside the riverbed to the picturesque village of Pendamodi, for a short stop to admire the old church and natural springs. Cross the vineyards of the island's largest wine region to the village of Krousounas, where you will sample local products such as raki and olive oil. Stop to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee whilst admiring the magnificent view in front of you.

Continue your journey through the Livadi Plateau, discovering multiple apple orchards. You will then head for the Nidia Plateau, the highest point of the day, from which you will see the snowy peak Psiloritis. Land Rover Safari - Tripiti

Your Optional Excursions
This excursion is the ideal way to explore the beautiful landscapes of Crete, through mountains, gorges and beautiful beaches. This safari, tested by our experts, begins by venturing towards Mount Louchtas where breathtaking views of the infinite blue of the Aegean Sea await. According to the myth, the god Zeus chose it as his last home.

From there, you will hit the road through the verdant vineyards, where the Minoans built the oldest wine press in the world, until you reach your next stop in Charakas, a small mountain village. Here, you will mingle with locals for a coffee break at a local café.

Following this, continue your journey off-road through hills populated with olive trees, until the next stop: the summit of the gorges of Tripiti. Admire the magnificent layers of rocks, wild meadows and the sparkling sea. Take a stop to walk in the gorge until you reach the small Panagia cave chapel which is built into the rock.

You will then head to the beach Tripiti to enjoy a barbecue with wine and water included. Spend relaxing moments enjoying a refreshing swim in the Libyan Sea, whose crystal-clear waters are always warmer than the Aegean Sea. Then, you will take a walk along the south coast and its small authentic villages before stopping for a refreshment and a snack. This is a fantastic experience that awaits!

Information about this excursion:
- Departures: Saturday
- The excursion is not recommended for children under 4 years old and is not recommended for people with back problems (off-piste trails).
