Good to know:
Versailles lies just 22 km from central Paris and is only 20 minutes away by train (RER C or SNCF from Montparnasse or Saint-Lazare). The palace is open year-round, but the gardens are especially enchanting from spring to early autumn, when fountains flow and flowers are in bloom. The Musical Fountains Show runs on weekends from April to October, while the Night Fountains Show takes place on Saturday evenings from June to September, with special events on 14 July, 15 August and 20 September. The city itself is walkable, though bicycles and small tourist trains make exploring the vast estate even easier.
