Your Cultural Experience —
The Musée de l'Orangerie is an art gallery of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings located in the western corner of the Tuileries Garden, near Place de la Concorde in Paris. Although the museum is famous for its eight paintings of Claude Monet's water lily murals, the museum also houses works by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Rousseau, Alfred Sisley, Chaim Soutine and Maurice Utrillo, among others. In the autumn, in association with the Musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Musée de l'Orangerie pays tribute to Félix Fénéon (1861-1944), a key figure in the artistic world late 19th and early 20th century. The exhibition pays tribute to this extraordinary man who remains unjustly unknown and will show the different facets of this extraordinary character.
Columnist, editor at the Revue Blanche, art critic, editor - he published "Illuminations" by Rimbaud - and gallery owner, Fénéon is also an exceptional collector who has brought together a large number of masterpieces, including a set unique of African and Oceanian sculptures. Unconditional supporter of neo-impressionism, discoverer of Seurat, artistic director of the Bernheim-Jeune gallery, defender of Fauvism, Futurism and Matisse, Fénéon played a decisive role on the artistic scene of the beginning of the XXth century. an exceptional collection of paintings and drawings by Seurat, Signac, Degas, Bonnard, Modigliani, Matisse, Derain, Severini, Balla, etc., from Africa and Oceania, as well as documents and archives. just show your voucher directly at the entrance reserved for visitors who have already purchased a ticket.
