Varadero seduces visitors with the transparency and tranquillity of its warm waters, and wide stretches of fine, clean, pure sand. It is 140 km to the east of Havana, located on the Hicacos peninsula. Also known as Playa Azul, because the waters reflect all shades of blue, the area offers a staggering 32 dive sites! At its most eastern point is the Varahicacos Ecological Reserve, a beautiful, fascinating area with a wide variety of flora and fauna.

The Hotel Velasco, recently renovated (2011), was built in 1902 by Luis Zorrilla Velasco, on what he called the Plaza de Armas. The renamed Plaza de la Libertadad of Matanzas is located in the middle of the historic center. The hotel's eclectic architecture, characterised by neoclassical elements such as arches, granite and precious woods, make it one of the most important buildings in the city.

Day 1: After breakfast, you will depart from Havana at 08:30 for a visit to three typical Cuban villages (Santa Cruz del Norte, Hershey and Jaruco).Santa Cruz del Norte. Panoramic tour of Santa Cruz del Norte with explanation of its social and economic development and during which it will be possible to see from the outside:
- Old rum distillery
- Havana Club Rum Factory
- Paper and yeast factory
- Tabacco Factory- Museum, church and cemetery of the city
Hershey

You will continue your visit to the town, known for its sugar factory, of "Camilo Cienfuegos", formerly "Hershey". During the journey, a brief stop at the Hershey Valley lookout point and stop at the Hershey Electric train station to find out more about the train project, its history and its operation. The visit of the town will make you discover its sugar factory and the offices and houses of (mainly ex) managers and workers.

Jaruco
You will then continue to the city of Jaruco where you will visit the small train station, the cathedral and the museum (open Tuesday to Friday from 08:00 to 12:00). The tour continues with a short walk through the Hershey Gardens with some free time to enjoy the splendor of the site.Following lunch at the private restaurant "Paladar" Café Caribe with a view of the Matanzas bay. In the afternoon you will visit the city of Matanzas, including a visit to the Ermita de Monserrat (spectacular viewpoint), Libertad square, Vigía Square park and the museum of the ancient Triolet pharmacies.At the end of the day, accommodation in the renovated colonial-style Hotel Velasco in the heart of the city. Dinner included.

Day 2: Breakfast and departure for the Canimar river for a motorboat ride along the river, followed by snorkeling in Punta Maya Visit and time for a swim in the Saturnian Cave. Then the tour continues with a visit to the Coffee Estae of Finca La Dionisia with lunch with soft drinks included, possibility to go horseback riding (short and not obligatory route) and free time to enjoy the farm. At the end, transfer to Varadero beach for the beach stay.
