During their fly drive, our members will follow one of the two itineraries listed below, as per their chosen duration.

11-Night Itinerary

Day 1: UK - San José (Airport - San Jose = 45-minute drive)
Welcome to Costa Rica! Meet your English speaking representative at the airport. Transfer to your hotel located in downtown San José, the capital city of Costa Rica. Receive your documentation of travel and enjoy overnight accommodation at your hotel.

Day 2: San Jose - Puerto Viejo (4 hours 30 minutes drive)
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge. You will then receive a shared transfer to Puerto Viejo de Limon. Puerto Viejo is located in the province of Limon, on the Caribbean coast. Here, the coral reefs are known for a wide variety of aquatic creatures - so be sure to look out for them in the crystal clear waters! You will then check-in to your hotel and enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 3: Puerto Viejo - Bocas del Toro (3 hour drive)
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards, take a shared transfer to Bocas del Toro, via the border of Sixaola that divides the countries of Costa Rica and Panama. After having paid the taxes of exit and entry of the countries (the taxes are not included: $ 11.00 USD per person), you will continue until you reach Almirante, where you will take a boat to arrive to Bocas del Toro. Please Note: To return to Costa Rica it is mandatory to carry a printed copy of the departure flight ticket from Costa Rica.

Day 4: Bocas del Toro
After breakfast, enjoy a free day where you can take advantage of the hotel's facilities or book a local excursion.

Day 5: Bocas del Toro - Puerto Viejo (3 hour drive)
Breakfast will be served at your hotel. You will then continue via boat to the city of Almirante, where you will take a shared transfer to the border of Sixaola, before carrying on to Puerto Viejo de Limon. Here, you will pick up your rental car. Please Note: You must also pay Panama's exit taxes (the taxes are not included: $ 5.00 USD per person.

Day 6: Puerto Viejo (South Caribbean)
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. You will then have a free day, allowing you to explore your surroundings or head out on an optional excursion in the region. We suggest the Cahuita National Park, the city of Cahuita, or the centre of Puerto Viejo itself.

Day 7: Puerto Viejo - Arenal (4 hours 30 minutes drive)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before travelling to the north of the country to La Fortuna, a town at the foot of the Arenal Volcano! Check-in to your hotel and enjoy an overnight stay.

Day 8: Arenal
Enjoy a tasty breakfast at the hotel. You will then have a free day, allowing you to enjoy the lodge or embark on an optional excursion in the region. At the end of the day, you will head to the thermal baths of Baldi: Relax and dine in this family complex offering 25 pools of warm or temperate mineralised water, a large natural sauna, a spa, three minibars, two gourmet restaurants, 3.5 kilometers of paths, and 3.4 acres of quaint tropical gardens. We suggest visiting the Arenal Volcano National Park (park closed on Mondays), the suspension bridges which you can walk on, and the Fortuna River Waterfall!

Day 9: Arenal – Manuel Antonio (4 hour drive)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. You will then depart to Manuel Antonio National Park, one of Costa Rica's most famous parks, thanks to its easy access and diversity of ecosystems.

Day 10: Manuel Antonio
Breakfast will be served at the hotel. Enjoy a free day, allowing you to explore the lodge or embark on an optional excursion in the region.

Day 11: Manuel Antonio – San José (3 hour drive)
Breakfast will be served at the lodge. Enjoy a free morning, allowing you to explore the hotel and the beach, or make an excursion in the area. You will then continue to San José city for your last night in Costa Rica. Drop off the vehicle at the hotel lobby.

Day 12: San José - Departure to UK

Your Journey —

Flights: You may choose from Economy, Premium or Business class flights on sectors that they operate, at the next stage of the booking process. The flights included are with either a scheduled or no-frills airline and are subject to live availability and prices can change. You can choose your preferred departure times during the booking process. Please select your flight options carefully as departure and arrival airports may differ.

Transfers: Return transfers are included as per itinerary for flight-inclusive offers.

For inbound transfer arrangements please confirm with your transfer provider when you arrive. Alternatively, please check with the reception of your accommodation. If you still require assistance, please call the transfer provider directly. 

Car Hire: Car hire is included in this offer from day 5 or 6 at 3 pm to day 11 (with 11-night tour) or day 13 (with 13-night tour) at 5 pm. Your car type will be an upgraded Suzuki Gran Vitara, and your rental will include a GPS, basic insurance and a rechargeable phone card.

Entry Requirements 


You must ensure you have a valid passport to travel on. 


If your passport describes you as a British Citizen, you do not need a visa to enter Costa Rica. For non-British citizens, you should check the Costa Rica embassy website.

If you choose a flight which routes via the USA and are travelling under the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), you must obtain an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) prior to departure. Passengers who have not received travel authorisation via ESTA prior to travel will be denied boarding. Please note that if you are denied from boarding, or are not allowed into the US for any reason, you will still be subject to our cancellation charges in accordance with our terms and conditions. 


Evidence of onward travel


Entry to Costa Rica may be refused if you are unable to produce evidence of return or onward travel (for example a return air ticket).


Airport tax


There’s a departure tax of $29 when leaving the country by air. Most airlines include this in ticket prices; a few have still not done so. Check with your airline or travel company whether you need to pay this separately.


Health

Cases of Chikungunya virus have been confirmed in Costa Rica and the number of reported cases in the region is increasing. You should take steps to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.

Car Hire —

Please note you cannot be guaranteed a specific make of car within a certain group.
The minimum age for driving a hire car in Costa Rica & Panama is 21 and drivers must have held a full driving licence for a least 1 year.

The lead name on the booking will be confirmed as the named driver.  The named driver must present a credit card in their name when collecting the car (credit cards in other names will not be accepted).

The named driver must also present a full valid driving licence on collection of the vehicle and in some cases a credit card or cash deposit will be required.

Please ensure that you check your car hire documents carefully once received as this will advise if there are any taxes/charges to be paid locally as well as potential mileage restrictions.

Your Contract —

If you book a package which includes flights, your contract will be with Voyage Privé. The air holiday package(s) shown are ATOL protected by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is 10170.

If you book a package which does not include flights, then ATOL protection does not apply. Your contract will be with the provider of the accommodation and not Voyage Privé. Voyage Privé acts only as agent for the accommodation provider.
