Your Itinerary —
During their tour, our members will follow the itinerary as seen below.
9-Night Tour
Upon arrival in Bogota, you'll enjoy English-speaking assistance and private road transfers with a Spanish-speaking driver to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, and enjoy an overnight stay in Bogota.
Day 2: Bogota
After breakfast, you'll spend the day at leisure. If you wish, you may choose to add on the Bogota excursion as listed below in 'Your Optional Excursions' at the next stage of the booking process for an additional fee. Overnight stay in Bogota.
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Bogota Airport by a Spanish-speaking driver, where you'll catch a flight to Neiva. On arrival, you'll be transferred to the village of Villavieja, at the gates of the Tatacoa desert. The Tatacoa Desert is the second largest arid area in Colombia after the La Guajira Peninsula. It is one of the most attractive natural areas of Colombia, as its ochre and grey land manifests itself on the green land of cacti. The Tatacoa desert has two characteristic colours: ochre in the Cuzco area and grey in the Los Hoyos area. You will go on a local vehicle tour in the desert, visitingthe Cuzco and Hoyo sites, and seeing giant cacti and eccentric geological formations before returning to the village. Then, you'll return to your hotel in Neiva in the early evening for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Neiva - San Agustin
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll depart for San Agustin with your Spanish-speaking driver. After a day on the road in the heart of a green landscape surrounded by mountains, you'll arrive in the late afternoon in San Agustin. On the way, you'll make various stops to a dam, a giant ceiba, the village of Timana and the cathedral of San Calixto. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and enjoy an overnight stay.
After breakfast at the hotel, head out to explore San Agustin. San Agustin is the cradle of a mysteriously extinct civilisation long before the advent of the Incas. The so-called "Augustinians" bequeathed shrines, sarcophagi and stone statues, some of which are said to date back more than 3000 years. In addition to its archaeological richness, the Huila department is also Colombia's largest coffee producer and also produces sugar cane, tropical fruits and vegetables. This day aims to take you to the heart of this mysterious civilisation through the discovery of two key places: the archaeological park and the Obando Museum that you will visit in the morning. Both sites are located in the heart of beautiful and lush nature, which sublimates the architectural beauty of the monuments. On the way, you will stop at the photogenic observation point of the estrecho Del Magdalena. You will spend the afternoon in the archaeological park of San Agustin - the site of Lavapatas, and home to a carved stone waterfall. This is a beautiful place that allows visitors to appreciate ancient cultures in Colombia. Afterwards, return to the hotel for free time and an overnight stay.
Day 6: San Agustin - Popayan
After breakfast, depart to Popayan with your Spanish-speaking driver. During your journey, you'll have the opportunity to see the heath of Puracea with its endemic espeletia (frailejon), a typical plant of the Andean mountains and the volcano of Purace (if the climate is favourable). Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and enjoy free time. Popayan is the capital of the department of Cauca, in southern Colombia. It is nicknamed "the white city of Colombia" and is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the country, comparable to the architecture of its richness in Cartagena of the Indies. Since the Spanish period, many religious communities such as the Jesuits, Dominicans, Franciscans, Carmelites and Augustinias have built their churches or temples in Popayon, which have become historic buildings. The Museum of Religious Art houses valuable colonial artifacts including a collection of ostensiblesa which are unique in the country. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, enjoy a private transfer to Popayan Airport. Fly to Cartegena with a stopover in Bogota and enjoy a transfer to your hotel where you can relax and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Cartegena.
Day 8: Cartagena
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free day or opt to add on the excursion as detailed below in 'Your Optional Excursions'. Overnight stay in Cartegena.
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free day of leisure. We recommend spending this day travelling to the Rosario Islands, where breathtakingly blue waters and soft, sandy beaches await. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 10: Departure from Cartagena
After breakfast, enjoy free time until you're transferred by a Spanish-speaking driver to the airport for your return flight home.
End of Services.
3-night Baru Island Extension
