The Tunisian Mirage: 2-day excursion to the Sahara from Djerba —
Embark on an unforgettable 2-day adventure in the heart of the Tunisian desert. This experience will introduce you to Berber villages, breathtaking landscapes and a night under the stars in Ksar Ghilane in a traditional camp.
The camp is called Sahara Lounge and is located in a peaceful setting in Ksar Ghilane, just a few minutes' walk from a natural hot spring where you can bathe for free. Nearby, you will also find quad biking activities (to be paid for on site) and superb walks on the dunes.
Accommodation is in a private Berber tent with shared single-sex bathrooms nearby, or in a classic private room with a private bathroom (subject to availability). Sheets and blankets are provided.
Traditional entertainment (depending on attendance) and a typical dinner are included to make your evening under the stars an unforgettable experience.
Day 1: Djerba → Chahbania Salt Lake → Tataouine → Chenini → Ksar Ghilane —
Depart in the morning by 4x4 in small groups, venturing into the endless expanse of the Tunisian desert. Pause at the Chahbania salt lake to marvel at its dazzling white flats beneath the open sky, perfect for photography. Continue to Tataouine, a desert town steeped in history, before climbing to the perched Berber village of Chenini, where stone houses overlook vast desert valleys.
Enjoy a traditional lunch before following sandy tracks across the Reg desert. Arrive at the desert camp in Ksar Ghilane, warmed by its natural hot spring, and settle in for an evening of Bedouin music, storytelling, and a night under the stars.

Day 2: Tamezret → Matmata → Toujane → Djerba —
Begin the day with breakfast at the camp as the desert awakens around you. Travel to the mountain village of Tamezret, exploring its narrow streets and timeless charm. Visit the troglodyte homes of Matmata, meeting local families and gaining insight into traditional desert life. Pause for a panoramic view at the village of Toujane before enjoying a traditional lunch.
In the afternoon, return to the comfort of your hotel in Djerba, carrying memories of desert landscapes, ancient villages, and authentic cultural encounters.
