DAY 2: ESSENCE RELICS OF SIAM TOUR (PRIVATE)
Explore the fascinating Rattanakosin District, considered the most historically significant area in all of Bangkok. Your journey begins with a kaleidoscope of colour at a local flower market, and with a hands-on lesson about how Buddhist locals use the lotus flower to worship Buddha. From the flower market, your guide points out the nearby Memorial Bridge and Temple, a commanding structure that shows King Rama I seated on a pedestal overlooking his prior kingdom.
By car, set off from the flower market and arrive at the Grand Palace, a must-see icon of the city. Home to the Emerald Buddha, the Grand Palace is a striking example of traditional Thai architecture and is considered one of the holiest locations in the entire country! Explore the temples and buildings within the complex alongside your guide and learn about the history and story of this Bangkok gem.
After lunch at a charming boutique restaurant by the river with a magnificent view of Wat Arun, walk to nearby Wat Pho, home of the reclining Buddha. After a visit here, set off by car to the Giant Swing, the gateway to the Baan Bat community. The creation of alms bowls - an important handicraft for Thailand’s Buddhist residents - has sustained much of the community here. Wandering through the area is a front-row seat to witness how they are made. Chat with the locals with the help of your guide before kicking back for a one-hour foot massage in a traditional Thai house - a well-earned treat after an eventful day! From here, head back to your hotel to enjoy the rest of your evening independently.

Make medicinal concoctions with herbs gathered from the on-site garden and meet mahouts and locals from Karen hill tribe who can explain their culture and practices.
Drive an hour and a half from Chiang Mai to ChangChill, a sanctuary that has spent the last few years transforming into a truly elephant-friendly venue. Upon arrival, staff members will present an introduction of the sanctuary’s past, its transition process, its current programs and its vision for the future. Follow the guide on a path through the forest to watch the elephants from a safe distance. For ethical reasons the guides will explain, that visitors here aren’t allowed to interact with the elephants, instead observing them in their natural habitats, grazing and socialising without human disruptions.
Listen to a “live lecture” along the way to learn some new facts about the needs, behaviours and conservation of Asian Elephants. Ask questions about the six elephants that call ChangChill home and meet the mahouts that have devoted their lives to protecting them.
Stop at a rest station to enjoy some traditional Thai refreshments. Just below the rest station is a mud pit where the elephants bathe and play during hot days. Enjoy the snacks and watch the elephants splash around in the mud, just far enough away so as not to splatter visitors...most of the time!
