The best little village you've never heard about. Kukkolaforsen is located just on the border between Sweden and Finland. Activities will take place on both sides of the border. The vibrant sauna and food culture constitute the soul of the facility. An amazing view of the Kukkola rapids and the Northern sky, offering a chance to see the magical Northern Lights on dark, clear nights, is available from every room.

You'll travel to a nearby husky farm, where enthusiastic huskies will be waiting for you for a one-hour sleigh ride through snowy forests and over a frozen lake.
On arrival, you'll meet your musher who will tell you all about the huskies, their nature and their training programme.
Everyone has the chance to take a ride in a sled pulled by a team of huskies. After a safety briefing to familiarise you with your sled and equipment, you will begin the excursion, which may vary in length depending on snow and weather conditions. On the way back, you can enjoy soup and a hot drink by the fire. The musher will tell you more stories about himself, the area and the dogs. Before you leave, you'll have time to say goodbye to the dogs and thank them for a great time together.
Duration of the excursion: approx. 3.5 hours, including a 1-hour sleigh ride.

Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping snowmobile safari! Starting at 10 am, we’ll guide you along forest trails, frozen rivers, and winter roads, offering breathtaking views of the Arctic wilderness.
There will be a stop for an outdoor lunch, where you can bask in the stillness of the snow-covered landscape and capture memorable photos. After three hours of exploration, return to Kukkolaforsen for a relaxing evening.

After breakfast we cross the border into Finland. First we immerse ourselves in the culture of the unique border area between Finland and Sweden, the twin towns of Haparanda and Tornio, and the entire Torne Valley.
Guided tour in the Torne Valley museum or in the Toy & Christmas museum in the Holiday season. Visit to Victoria Square, where you can be in two countries and two time zones at the same time. There is also time for some local shopping at the Rajalla på Gränsen shopping centre.
Next we drive to the reindeer farm. The herder Päivi tells us about the reindeer and the daily work on the farm. After meeting the reindeer, they take us for a sledge ride. We have a good lunch in their Sapmi wooden house and then there is time to play on the slopes and learn how to throw a lasso.
You will have a few hours of free time after getting back to Kukkolaforsen before the delicious dinner in the view restaurant.

You'll learn how to drill a hole in the ice, bait your line and try your luck. You'll also see how monkfish are traditionally caught.
Afterwards, you can warm up in the Timber Smoke Hut, where we'll grill freshly caught fish over an open fire in true Kukkola style.
At 10 a.m. we'll set off for an unforgettable ice fishing experience on the River Torne. You'll learn how to drill a hole in the ice, bait your line and try your luck! You'll also see how monkfish are traditionally caught.
Afterwards, you can warm up in the Timber Smoke Hut, where we'll grill freshly caught fish over an open fire in true Kukkola style. Enjoy this local delicacy with Swedish tunnbröd and warm fruit juices, all in the historic setting of this smokehouse dating from the 1700s.
