The restaurants and bars have played host to some famous faces – today the legend continues. Take breakfast in the Crystal Hall, sunbathe by the pool, and order a little something from the Pool Bar. In the Restaurant Sophia fine dining is an art form as beautiful as the restaurant itself. Make yourself comfortable in the Fleur de Sel overlooking the Bay of Piran, and choose from the Slovene-international menu. When the sun goes down the Palace Club is a legend, not to mention the unbelievable cocktails! The sense of occasion is always palpable in the bars at the Kempinski Palace Portoroz.
Restaurant Fleur de Sel
Fleur de Sel is the crème de la crème of sea salts; and Portoroz is justly famous for its salts. Today, Fleur de Sel famously offers a making a name for itself for its fusion of wonderful food and a laid-back lifestyle. From the Italians they have learned how to make perfect pasta; from the Austrians they have learned all about meat; and the Mediterranean is their treasure trove. Fleur de Sel is all about a resort lifestyle – laid-back, casual, friendly. After a lazy morning by the pool come for lunch and try Slovene ham with salad of cantaloupe melon and zucchini or the Grilled Black tiger prawns with guacamole, marinated pineapple, spicy chutney and Gazpacho.
The food is Mediterranean, with an Italian influence. At the Restaurant Sophia guests know quite a bit about glamour and the meaning of good food; it’s a part of their lives. It’s a part of the history.
When you come down to a sumptuous breakfast in the Crystal Hall you might find yourself waltzing with a glass of fresh orange juice and sparkling wine... This is the famous ballroom of the Kempinski Palace Portoroz where the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy whirled and twirled. If you prefer, take a seat on the terrace, choose from the bowls of fresh fruits and warm dishes.
The day has been a lazy one – a morning by the pool; an afternoon at the Rose Spa. A leisurely change of clothes, and a glass of bubbly in Bubbles. Bubbles is an aperitif bar, specialising in fine champagnes, from the excellent Taittinger Brut to the magnificent Clos du Mesnil 1996.
The Palace Club lounge and bar is at the very heart of the Kempinski Palace Portoroz. It’s the place for morning cappuccino and a catch-up with the newspapers; a glass of white wine, a Palace Club sandwich and a meet-up with friends and colleagues; an iced tea in the afternoons, and perhaps a malt whisky before bedtime.
Refreshment in hot summer moments. Picture the Pool Bar – Strawberry smoothie, Campari over ice, a slice of melon, a dish of local almonds, fluffy towels for after your swim, fresh carrot juice. In summer the Pool Bar Grill is waiting for you after you’ve worked up an appetite with a few lengths of the pool.
You hardly need a reason to enjoy the magical experience of private dining at the Kempinski Palace Portoroz; it might be that it is all about a grand romance by candlelight, an anniversary or a special celebration for you and the people who mean the most to you.
