It is the only house of this time which still belongs today to the same family. In addition to this cultural link, we can see farm terraces and a beautiful church of the seventeenth century, built on an ancient Inca palace and considered one of the first Catholic buildings in Peru. Your journey continues towards Ollantaytambo, with a stop before to a mirador to enjoy the landscape before arriving at the Living Museum of Yucay. This museum is in fact a center of interpretation of the Andean traditions, with demonstrations of elaboration of textile products, adobe crafts, ceramics and ceramics. silversmithing with the use of the same ancient techniques of the Incas. There are also alpacas, llamas and sheep that you can approach and feed them. Then direction Ollantaytambo (known for its fortress) for a delicious lunch. This village is a typical example of the urban plan of the Incas, where the inhabitants still live today according to their ancient traditions. Day 5: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Cusco
Your trip to Machu Picchu begins with a 90-minute train journey through spectacular scenery to Aguas Calientes from Ollantaytambo Station. After a quick bus transfer (25 minutes), you will arrive at Machu Picchu, the "lost city of the Incas". It seems that the archaeological site was built in 1450 by the Inca Pachacutec as a holiday residence. A century later, the citadel was abandoned after the conquest of the Spaniards, fleeing from destruction as other Incan sites have known. The vegetation then gradually invaded its stone buildings and hid it, protecting it for centuries. During the guided tour, discover the origins of this impressive place, admire the main monuments such as the central square, the royal rooms, the temple of the three windows, the circular towers, the solar calendar and the cemeteries. After the visit, return to Aguas Calientes to lunch the train to Ollantaytambo. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in Cuzco.
Day 6: Cusco / City Tour
Today you will take a guided tour from Coricancha Temple, one of the most important buildings in the city. It was one of the most important worship centers of the Sun God of the Incas, which was turned into a convent after the arrival of the Spaniards. Then visit the magnificent Cathedral of Cusco, built between 1560 and 1664, and end the visit by visiting the San Pedro Market, a pantry of thousands of products from different parts of the region. Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel.
