Your Destination —
The resort is just 15 minutes away from the centre of Muscat, with a wealth of sights and activities for the curious explorer. Visit the Muttrah Souk and explore the side streets, where you will find a selection of tiny shops full of Omani silver, stalls of gleaming white dishdashas and embroided kumahs, brightly colored cloth and multicoloured head scarves. You also find Omani pots, paintings, hookah pipes, framed khanjars, leatherwork and incense.
The Omani Heritage Village is a popular tourist attraction, nestled in the premises of Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa. The village is a reincarnation of a bygone era that establishes the same mystical and authentic atmosphere of a souk. Here, at the Omani Heritage Village you will get a firsthand experience of some the Sultanate of Oman’s traditional arts and crafts. A demonstration of life in early Oman, this village also produces wares that can be bought. Watch the artisans at work over handcrafted silver ware, pottery and weaving. Traditional henna painting on the body can also be done here, in exquisite designs and motifs that have been passed on from centuries before. Hand woven rugs and carpets are also on sale here. Find the most enticing trinkets and souvenirs that will make ideal gifts to take back home.
Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a beautiful example of Islamic architecture, and provides a wonderful insight into the cultural heritage of Oman. It is also the only mosque that allows entry for non-Muslims. The mosque is lavishly decorated and features a 263m prayer carpet, 35 crystal chandeliers (the central one is 14 metres high and 8 metres wide) and a floor entirely paved with marble. The tour takes you into the men's and women's prayer halls, where you are allowed to take photographs.
Your Hotel —
The name Al Waha means "The Oasis", and has been designed such that the hotel's several swimming pools form an oasis incorporating many date palm trees.
The architecture of Al Waha is traditional Dhofari, from the southern region of Oman. Nestled at the foot of a mountain range, vehicular access has been made possible by a man-made tunnel. You can also use the facilities at Al Bandar Hotel but not Al Husn Hotel.
The deep turquoise blue water of the Sea of Oman is hypnotic, contrasting vividly with the majestic mountains that rise behind the resort. This is the fascination of Oman.
The experience is elevated at Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Sultanate of Oman. Two hotels await your arrival.
Al Waha, your excitement heightens as a man-made tunnel through the mountain leads you to a sanctuary facing the Sea of Oman. Al Waha lives up to its name with several swimming pools merging to form a serene oasis. Date palms and traditional Dhofari architecture remind you that you are in Arabia.
Al Bandar Hotel, Like its name suggests, this hotel is akin to a town with a mixture of fine restaurants. After you savour the exquisite Arabian flavours of tender roasted meats at Al Tanoor restaurant, you might decide to take home a piece of Oman with the intricately-designed crafts, jewellery and artwork from the gift shop and art gallery.

The main beach offers bathrooms, showers, beach loungers, umbrellas, towels, and bar service with light snacks. The beaches and facilities are for the private use of guests.

The pools at Al Waha and Al Bandar are connected by the Lazy River, which guests use as a relaxing way of “commuting” around the resort.
Nature

All excursions are planned and conducted with sensitivity to the unique ecosystem.
