Bergen is Norway’s second city and the world’s only city surrounded by 7 mountains and 7 fjords. Bergen is, with good reason, called the Gateway to the Fjords due to its close proximity to the Norwegian fjords. This makes the city the perfect starting point for exploring the fjord region.

Flåm

Flåm is a village in southwestern Norway, in an area known for its fjords and spectacular beauty. The dramatic Stegastein viewing platform juts out high above the Aurlandsfjord. South of Flåm Harbor, the 17th-century wooden Flåm Church lies in the valley. The Flåm Railway offers valley and waterfall views as it climbs to a station on the Hardangervidda plateau.

During their tour, our members may follow the guided itinerary below:

Day 1: Arrival in Bergen
Upon arriving in Bergen, you will travel into the city centre towards your hotel. There, you will check-in and spend the rest of the day at leisure, discovering your amazing destination.

Overnight in Bergen.
Day 2: Bergen – Flåm
Following breakfast, you will be directed to the train station. From there you will depart to Flåm on the NSB Train in a 2nd class reserved seat, with a short break en-route to the mountain stop in Myrdal. Arrive in Flåm and check-in to your hotel before enjoying free time for the rest of the day, discovering this scenic village. Please Note: you can pick-up your ticket at the NSB ticket office at the station.

Overnight in Flåm.
Day 3: Flåm
Today you will experience the Nærøyfjord in its full winter glory! The narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjord is surrounded by steep mountains with snow-covered peaks that stretch up to 1800 metres above sea level. Waterfalls cascade down the mountains and picturesque villages dot the landscape. This is an area that is featured on the UNESCO world heritage list and is considered to be one of the world's most beautiful fjord landscapes. Your trip will start in Flåm. The roundtrip is a combination of a cruise and a bus which will take you back to where you began.

Overnight in Flåm.
Day 4: Flåm - Bergen
After breakfast, you will make your way back to Flåm Station before boarding the NSB train back to Bergen. Upon arrival in Bergen, head to the same hotel that you stayed in on night one and check-in. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Please Note: you can pick-up your ticket at the NSB ticket office at the station.

Overnight in Bergen.

Day 5: Bergen
After breakfast, stroll through the narrow lanes of ancient Bryggen. Bryggen has become a symbol of Norway's cultural heritage and has gained a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Following breakfast, check-out of your hotel and make your wait to the airport for a departing flight home.

You will enjoy a 2-night stay in a Standard Room on a Half Board Dining Basis (breakfast and evening meal served in the main restaurant - excludes drinks).

The historical Fretheim Hotel 4* is centrally located in the west part of Norway. This is where the Sognefjord ends and the Flam Railway starts. The hotel's Standard Rooms are located at the rear of the hotel, benefitting from views of the region's hiking trails and the mountains. They come complete with a combined bath and shower and feature charming bay windows that are sure to delight our guests.

At the hotel's Main Restaurant, the focus is on fresh, natural dishes that have been mainly sourced from local farms. The food here is processed in both a traditional and innovative way, and guests just keep coming back for more!
