Your itinerary in detail

7 night cruise

DAY 1: EMBARK IN LONGYEARBYEN

Welcome to the High Arctic, where serrated mountains ripple above tundra plains and meltwater braids silver threads through the valley floor. Perched on the shores of Isfjorden, Longyearbyen has traded coal dust for polar research and adventure lore, with the legendary Svalbard Global Seed Vault tucked into a nearby mountainside. Spend the day breathing in air so crisp it feels newly minted, wandering the compact streets and absorbing the surreal fact that you’re more than 78° north. As evening drifts in - though the midnight sun barely blinks - settle into your cabin. Watch the town slip astern as your ship glides into Isfjorden and points its bow toward the top of the world.

  • Embark in Longyearbyen
  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 2: LONGYEARBYEN → NY-ÅLESUND

At the tip of the Brøgger Peninsula lies Ny-Ålesund, one of the planet’s northernmost settlements and a living laboratory for Arctic science. Once a coal outpost, it now hums quietly with international researchers tracking glaciers and climate from the shores of Kongsfjorden. Wander the compact streets, peek into the small museum, and mail a postcard from a post office closer to the North Pole than most people will ever stand. As you sail away, keep watch: glaciers groan at the fjord’s mouth, walrus sprawl on beaches, and seabirds stitch the sky. With luck, a beluga may surface - or even a polar bear may patrol the shoreline.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 3: NY-ÅLESUND → BARENTS SEA

Bid farewell to Svalbard and settle into the rhythm of the open sea as you chart a southerly course toward mainland Norway. Today is for slowing down: stretch out on deck beneath the pale Arctic sun and scan the horizon for whales slicing through steel-blue swells. Inside, join an illuminating talk from the Expedition Team to deepen your Arctic insight. Meals celebrate Norway’s Coastal Kitchen, showcasing hyper-local produce that tastes of fjord, forest and field. As dusk never quite falls, swap stories in the lounge and let the ocean set the tempo.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 4: BARENTS SEA → SENJA

Land ho: mainland Norway rises from the sea as you pause briefly in Tromsø before continuing south. Soon Senja unfurls - a wild collage of turquoise coves, jagged peaks and pine-clad hills often dubbed “mini Norway.” Fishing villages cling to the shoreline, and the landscapes shift from sandy beaches in the north to forested calm in the south. Disembark in Torsken and explore at your own pace, whether that means a quiet wander through the harbour or simply soaking up the salt-bright air. Optional excursions - by bus, e-bike or wildlife safari - are available at extra cost for those wanting to range further afield.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 5: SENJA → SVOLVÆR

Morning finds you in Stokmarknes, birthplace of the Coastal Express and home to the striking Hurtigruten Museum, where the vintage ship MS Finnmarken stands preserved in glass. Sailing onward, you slip through Raftsundet and into the dramatic embrace of Trollfjord before reaching the Lofoten archipelago. Peaks spear skyward like dragon’s teeth, their reflections trembling in sheltered coves. By afternoon you’re moored in Svolvær, Lofoten’s lively hub of galleries, cafés and working boats. Optional adventures - fishing, kayaking or guided tours - are offered at extra cost, but the town itself rewards simple wandering.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 6: STOKMARKNES → BESSAKER

Cross the Arctic Circle as the ship glides south over open water, the horizon wide and wind-swept. About an hour before arrival, Norway’s coastline reappears in soft folds of green and granite. Bessaker is tiny - just a couple of hundred residents - but rich in maritime character and famed for its fertile fishing grounds. Spend the afternoon strolling the harbour, dropping into the local museum, and lingering over coffee and cake in the village pub. Optional hikes, farm visits, boat trips and e-bike tours are available at extra cost for those keen to dig deeper.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 7: BESSAKER → ÅLESUND

A brief call in Ålesund reveals a town rebuilt in elegant Art Nouveau style, its pastel façades clustered beneath Mount Aksla. Wander the waterfront or climb for sweeping views over islands and sea. Nearby lies the spectacular Hjørundfjord, slicing through the Sunnmøre Alps, with the serene village of Sæbø resting along its banks. An overland excursion to Hjørundfjord and Sæbø is available at extra cost, as is a guided walk in the Urke Valley; otherwise, enjoy Ålesund at your own pace. Tonight, raise a glass at a farewell dinner as your voyage along the Svalbard Line draws to a close.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 8: DISEMBARK IN BERGEN

Morning light spills over Bergen’s harbour as you return to the gateway of the fjords. Bid fond farewells to crew and fellow travellers before stepping ashore. In just over a week you’ve traced a path from the High Arctic to Norway’s storied coast. The glaciers, fjords and fishing villages may fade into memory - but the feeling of standing at the edge of the world lingers long after the gangway lowers.

  • Disembark in Bergen

14 night cruise

DAY 1: EMBARK IN BERGEN

Welcome to Bergen, Norway’s second city and self-styled “City of Seven Mountains”, with its leaning wooden warehouses reflected in Vågen Bay, and graze on just-landed seafood at the nearby fish market. Before boarding, relax in the Bergen Terminal lounge and secure any last-minute optional excursions (all at extra cost). Once aboard, meet your Expedition Team and settle into shipboard life. As evening falls, watch Bergen’s rainbow façades shrink into the Norwegian Sea.

  • Embark in Bergen
  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 2: BERGEN → ÅNDALSNES

At the mouth of the Rauma River, Åndalsnes sits cradled by the sawtooth peaks of Romsdalen. Sheer and cinematic, Trollveggen plunges more than 1,000 metres, luring climbers and BASE jumpers alike. Embrace the Norwegian spirit of friluftsliv with a hike to a sweeping viewpoint, or simply stroll the waterfront and breathe mountain air. Optional experiences such as the Romsdal Gondola or a bus journey along Trollstigen are available at extra cost. By late afternoon, the fjord calls you northward again.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 3: ÅNDALSNES → TRÆNA

Scattered like stepping stones along the Helgeland coast, Træna’s 500 islands mark the edge of the Arctic Circle. Only a handful are inhabited, lending the place a rare, end-of-the-map hush. The village opens its church, chapel and museum for your visit, offering a glimpse into resilient island life. Optional hikes, cultural walks and even a bracing sauna-and-sea dip are offered at extra cost. Back on board, celebrate crossing the Arctic Circle with a light-hearted maritime ceremony.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 4: TRÆNA → REINE

Approaching the Lofoten Islands from the south is pure theatre: granite peaks spear skyward above glassy water. Reine’s red rorbuer cling to islets beneath jagged ridgelines, forming one of Norway’s most photographed scenes. Nearby lies the storybook village of Å, home to the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum. An excursion to Å is available at extra cost; otherwise, linger in Reine and let the landscape do the talking. As the light softens, the mountains glow ember-red.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 5: REINE → TROMSØ

Historic launchpad for polar expeditions, Tromsø fuses Arctic heritage with urban verve. Spend the day exploring museums, cafés and the striking Arctic Cathedral with its kaleidoscopic stained glass. For lofty views, the Fjellheisen Cable Car ascends Storsteinen Mountain—an optional experience at extra cost. Guided city walks and scenic bus tours are also available at extra cost. By evening, the city’s harbour hums with stories of explorers past and present.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 6: TROMSØ → HONNINGSVÅG

Arrive mid-morning in one of mainland Norway’s northernmost ports, gateway to the legendary North Cape. The plateau rises 307 metres above the Barents Sea, its cliffs lashed by wind and wave. Stand at the edge of Europe and gaze toward the distant North Pole. Excursions to North Cape by bus, quad bike or on foot are available at extra cost. Departing, admire the dramatic headland from sea as mainland Norway slips behind you.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 7: HONNINGSVÅG → BARENTS SEA

A day of blue horizons and Arctic anticipation as you sail toward Svalbard. Pass the lonely outpost of Bjørnøya, a rugged sentinel between worlds. Attend lectures on Svalbard’s fragile ecology and the rules that protect it. On deck, scan for seabirds riding the wind and savour a chef-prepared tasting inspired by northern flavours. The farther north you sail, the wilder the silence feels.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 8: BARENTS SEA → LONGYEARBYEN

Spitsbergen’s mountains ripple brown and green above tundra stitched with meltwater streams. Longyearbyen, perched by Isfjorden, blends mining history with cutting-edge science, including the famed Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Wander galleries, pubs and the compact main street at leisure. Optional adventures—by e-bike, boat, dog cart or wilderness camp—are available at extra cost. At 78° north, the midnight sun barely dips below the horizon.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 9: LONGYEARBYEN → NY-ÅLESUND

One of the world’s northernmost settlements, Ny-Ålesund trades coal-mining past for climate science present. International research stations dot the shores of Kongsfjorden, backed by creaking glaciers. Stroll the quiet lanes, visit the small museum and send a postcard from the tiny post office. Wildlife may steal the show—walrus on the beach, seabirds overhead, perhaps even a beluga offshore. With rare luck, a polar bear may patrol the coastline.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 10: NY-ÅLESUND → BARENTS SEA

Bid farewell to Svalbard and settle into the rhythm of open water. Relax on deck under endless daylight and watch for whales breaking the surface. In the lounge, swap stories as the ship steams toward mainland shores.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 11: BARENTS SEA → SENJA

After a brief stop in Tromsø, continue south to Senja, often dubbed “mini Norway” for its turquoise bays, pine forests and serrated peaks that crowd together in cinematic style. Disembark in Torsken and explore independently at your own pace. Optional wildlife safaris and guided tours are available at extra cost. By evening, the island’s quiet charisma lingers long after departure.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 12: SENJA → SVOLVÆR

Pause in Stokmarknes to visit the Hurtigruten Museum before sailing through Raftsundet and into the narrow drama of Trollfjord. Peaks close in as you glide toward Lofoten’s lively hub, Svolvær. The pace here is unhurried, the welcome warm.

  • All inclusive
  • Night aboard MS Midnatsol

DAY 14: BESSAKER → ÅLESUND

Ålesund’s Art Nouveau façades curve elegantly along a peninsula beneath Mount Aksla. Nearby, the sublime Hjørundfjord threads through the Sunnmøre Alps toward the village of Sæbø. An overland excursion to Hjørundfjord and Sæbø, as well as guided valley walks, are available at extra cost. Alternatively, explore Ålesund’s streets and viewpoints at leisure. Tonight, celebrate with a farewell dinner as your voyage nears its end.
