Changu Narayan Temple is the oldest temple in the valley, located 22 km from Kathmandu and a 25 minute drive from Bhaktapur town. The original temple was built in the 4th century during the time of the Lichhavi rulers and is perched on a hill overlooking the nearby town. Much of it was rebuilt in the 18th century.

Later, enjoy a walk from Changunarayan to Telkot. The walk follows the ridge with a breathtaking view of the valley on the right and the Himalayas on the left side [2-3 hours of easy walking, no real difficulties].

Bhaktapur, literally known as the 'City of Devotees', is renowned for its elegant art, fabulous culture, colourful festivals, traditional dances and typical Newari lifestyle. Get closer to the authentic lifestyle of the Nepalese people, meeting the villagers of Panauti and breathe in the fresh air of the lush Panauti Valley.

Overnight and dinner at a local's home in Panauti.

As you will be staying in a local house, it is important to know that your stay will not be like a hotel. The facilities are basic but comfortable, and you will live like the host families. This is the magic of the homestay experience! Remember that you are in the host family for an authentic Nepali experience, not for luxury and comfort.

You will also get a taste of the local produce. Our host families only offer Nepali food, but your hosts will be happy to cater for any dietary requirements (vegetarian/vegan etc).

The homestay promises many unique stories and memories. You will always remember wearing traditional Nepali dress, cooking and eating local recipes and laughing with your host family. It is an annual pilgrimage centre on Maha Shivaratri day. It is a quiet and peaceful place to see the largest religious temple in the world.
