Your Itinerary in Detail

Day 1: Arrival in Amman

Meet at Queen Alia International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Amman. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Half day of traditional tastings

After breakfast, you will explore Amman city centre on foot to discover at your own pace its many treasures: the Hussini Mosque, the Vegetable Market, and the Greco-Roman Theatre.

You will then have lunch in a traditional Hashem restaurant where you will taste falafel according to the traditional recipe. You will continue your visit of this city built entirely in white limestone, an aggregate of cream-coloured cubes gilded by the sun. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Amman and the castles of the desert

After breakfast, departure for the Desert Castles.

The first castle visited is Qasr Al-Kharaneh, and you will then pass by Qasr Amra which occupies an island that has formed in the bed of a Wadi that is almost always dry. This island is home to a small, well-preserved castle, whose blonde stonework blends in with the heat of the desert.

The castle of Qasr Al Azraq dates back to the 13th century and was badly affected by an earthquake in 1927. Despite this, it remains magnificent. You will have lunch en route before returning to Amman for a visit to the citadel, which offers a breathtaking view of the lower city. Before descending, a visit to the Archaeological Museum, the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace is a must. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4 : Jerash and Ajloun

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the ancient city of Jerash, the second major site in Jordan after Petra.

Considered one of the best preserved Roman cities in the Near East, it reached its peak in the 2nd and 3rd centuries and was hidden under the sand for several centuries before being discovered and restored over a period of 70 years.

The city is adorned with cobbled collonaded streets, huge hilltop temples, delightful theatres, spacious public squares, baths, fountains and walls pierced by towers and gates.

After lunch, continue to Ajloun and its impressive fortress nestled on top of a mountain overlooking the Jordan Valley. Return to Amman, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Iraq el Amir, Dead Sea and Amman

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Iraq El Amir and its castle from the Hellenistic period.

The castle is an amazing construction, with various Greek and Oriental inspirations, and looks like a Roman palace. You will then take the road to the Dead Sea with a lunch break and an unforgettable swim.

Its particular climate makes it an exceptional resort, which owes to its nickname of "Asphaltite Lake" or "Salt Sea". Return to Amman, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

ATTENTION: For arrivals on Tuesday, the Dead Sea tour is not available.

Day 6: Kings' Road, Madaba, Nebo, Kerak and Petra

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to the Kings' Road, with a visit to Madaba.

This city is known as the city of mosaics, both in its 14 churches and in its houses. In the Church of St. George in Madaba, you will discover the "Map of Palestine", a mid-6th century mosaic, barely altered, which traces the geography of the Byzantine Near East over 25 metres.

You will then go to Mount Nebo, the presumed site of Moses' tomb, which rises to an altitude of 840m. You will stop for lunch at the fortress before heading to your second hotel in Petra. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Petra the Rose and Wadi Rum

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for a full day tour of Petra with lunch at the site restaurant.

The pink city, Petra, has particular geology, entirely carved out of soft sandstone. In total, almost 800 monuments, mainly temples, baths and tombs, are scattered around Petra over 100 km2.

The eighth wonder of the world and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it is the most famous site in Jordan and even in the Middle East. You will cross the Siq, a narrow and long fault line caused by a prehistoric earthquake at the end of which Petra's most majestic monument, Al Khazneh, suddenly appears.

After such a dazzling spectacle of beauty, another unique experience awaits you, in one of the most beautiful deserts in the world. Filled with magnificent pink sandstone mountains, canyons and dunes, Wadi Rum offers a unique experience, during which you will have the joy of sleeping under the stars after a meal that reflects Bedouin generosity and local hospitality.

Day 8: Wadi Rum and departure

You will have breakfast amongst the serene beauty of the cliffs, peaks and valleys of Wadi Rum.

This site was one of the high places of the Great Arab Revolt, magnified by director David Lean in one of the most impressive scenes of his Lawrence of Arabia.

You will have the opportunity to explore this natural film set on a 4X4 Jeep pick-up tour for about an hour and a half. In the middle of the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight, with assistance with departure formalities.

Please note that the order of the itinerary depends on the day of your arrival.

Your destination

Jordan

Full to the brim with epic scenery, ancient history, captivating cities and bucketlist attractions, Jordan is a popular tourist destination that offers its guests a true immersion into the charms of the Middle East.

While Jordan offers a variety of spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Sites, none are more beloved than Petra, a fascinating archaeological city that sits within a mountain gorge and features beautiful 'rose-tinted' stone. Frequently referred to as one of the seven new Wonders of the World, this architectural masterpiece is a must-stop spot on any tourist's itinerary in Jordan.

For those hoping to escape the arid climate of the desert, we recommend taking advantage of Jordan's coastline with a visit to the Dead Sea. Thanks to the incredibly high salt quantities in the water, here, you can float atop the waves, make the most of the natural minerals and their healing properties and enjoy a well deserved rest, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life!
