Visit the main sights of the Japanese capital! More than a city, Tokyo is a fascinating juxtaposition of heterogeneous districts, skyscrapers, luminous signs, temples and traditional sanctuaries.

The must-sees:

  • The Asakusa district and the Senso-ji temple
  • The Tokyo Skytree, culminating at 634 meters, and the Tokyo Tower, symbol of the city
  • Ueno Park and its many museums
  • The Shibuya and Shinjuku districts
  • Hamarikyu, the Japanese garden between the buildings of Tokyo
  • The gardens of the Imperial Palace
  • Meiji-jingu Shrine
  • Ginza, the chic district of Tokyo
  • Harajuku: the avant-garde district
  • ...and other places detailed in your travel diary.

Enjoy a guided day tour in Tokyo with our expert (optional).

Ishigaki

In Ishigaki, you can sunbathe on the white sand and swim in its turquoise waters... Just enjoy a little bit of heaven! Don't forget to see the unique "Hoshizuna" starry sand!

There are many activities available, to be discussed with your hotel upon arrival: diving with an English-speaking guide, snorkelling...and other suggestions in your travel diary!

Hop on a ferry to discover the small paradise island of Taketomi (20 min ferry ride from the small town of Ishigaki, 5 ferries/hour, tickets included in your package).

On Taketomi, everything can be done on foot or by bike (many bike rentals - no need to book in advance). All the details are in your travel diary!

Osaka (13 & 16-night packages)

After Ishigaki, head to the vibrant city Osaka!

These are some must-see places:

  • The medieval castle of Osaka, with its park full of plum and cherry trees
  • The city centre and its Nakanoshima Island, with its rose park in the middle of the buildings
  • Utsubo Park, an oasis of freshness in the business district
  • Rendezvous in Umeda, temple of Japanese style shopping
  • End up at the Umeda Sky building at dusk for a 360° view of Kansai (including Kyoto on a clear day!)
  • The Osaka Kaiyûkan aquarium, the largest aquarium in the world in terms of volume
  • The Tennoji district and its Shitenno-ji Buddhist temple, one of the oldest in Japan
  • Shinseikai, with retro charm
  • DenDen machi, the technologeek village
  • Don’t forget to go to Dotonbori, the liveliest district and its unparalleled atmosphere ! Taste Osaka's specialties: takoyaki, okonomiyaki and many others.

Okayama (13 & 16-night packages)

From Osaka, head to the feudal city of Okayama located by the Sea of Japan (1h20 by shinkansen, included in your offer).

Drop off your belongings at your hotel and explore the beautiful Korakuen Garden, one of the 3 most famous gardens in Japan during the Edo period. Okayama Castle is also accessible from the garden.

Don’t miss the art island of Naoshima, 1 hour from Okayama: 45 minutes by train (1 change - free with Japan Rail Pass) and 15 minutes by boat (Buy on-site, about €4.50/pers A/R). Details in your travel diary.

Naoshima Island is world-famous for its modern art museums, the architecture of some of its buildings, and the scattered outdoor sculptures throughout its territory.

These numerous museums and buildings were designed by the architect Ando Tadao. You will be impressed, among other things, by Monet's water lilies, displayed in a simple room where you enter without shoes! N.B: access to one of the museums, the Chichu Art Museum, is subject to reservation.

Return to Okayama at the end of the day by the same route as in the morning, in the middle of the Japanese countryside.

If you consider yourself less of an artist and more of a romantic, the city of Kurashiki, less than 20 minutes by JR train from Okayama, will seduce you!

Kinosaki Onsen (16-night package)

Leave at noon for Kinosaki Onsen (approximately 3h20, included in your JR Pass), and check-in your ryokan, traditional Japanese accommodation.

Arrive in this picturesque village, one of the best places in Japan to discover the hot springs - onsens. In addition to the baths in your ryokan, you can visit one or more of the 7 public onsens in the village, which are free to enter.

Wear yukata - traditional Japanese clothing - provided by your ryokan and stroll along the willow-lined canals and traditional shops towards the onsens. All of them offer various baths, some of which are unexpected: a hot bath on the roof of a building, a "penguin" sauna covered in ice, an outdoor bath lined with Japanese maple trees, or another in a cave!

A great way to discover and relax, for all types of travellers: solo, couples, families or friends!

INCLUDED: Enjoy a traditional dinner and breakfast in your ryokan.

Kyoto

Head to Kyoto from Ishigaki or Okayama depending on your package.

Kyoto, the former imperial capital, combines the past with the present, and the present with the future. Millennium, artistic, spiritual and gourmet: visiting Kyoto is an opportunity to discover the origins of the Japanese soul and is the essential stopover of a stay in Japan.

Included:

  • Experience a night walk tour in Gion, Kyoto’s lively and colorful Geisha district. Discover the most iconic district of Kyoto, filled with tradition and history.

Add to your stay (optional):

    Your Destination

    Tokyo

One of the world’s most cutting-edge capitals, Tokyo is a city of contrasts. Famous for its modernity, neon-lit landscape and towering skyscrapers, it is also home to sprawling parkland, peaceful shrines and temples and lovingly tended gardens.

Despite its love affair with manga pop culture, fashion, high-tech trends and conspicuous consumption, below the surface is a city that has its roots in ancient heritage. Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples stand close to skyscrapers as a reminder of a more contemplative time, and at the heart of the hyperactive centre lies the serene Imperial Palace, the home of the ruling emperor that provides a tangible link to the city’s historical past.

Behind the shopping, entertainment and commercial emporia can be found quaint wooden houses, private gardens with meticulously clipped bonsai trees and the Zen-like calm of the Hamarikyu Gardens. Discover the fascinating and exquisite culture of Japan, where the ancient and modern worlds collide. The city’s reputation as a mega-expensive metropolis is ill-conceived, and visitors can take advantage of inexpensive izakaya bars and neighbourhood cafés that serve delicious noodles and rice dishes

The Japan Rail Pass allows you to travel by train on JR routes during its period of validity, such as trips departing from Kyoto/Osaka, or trips departing from Tokyo (Nikko and Kamakura), as well as the boat and train from Hiroshima to Miyajima.

Note: It is not necessary to have a Japan Rail Pass that covers the whole duration of your stay. Indeed, it is profitable only if it is used for long journeys between the different steps of the stay (especially by Shinkansen) which are very expensive.

In large cities like Tokyo, not all public transport are covered by the Japan Rail Pass and trains are relatively cheap. Thus, providing you with a Japan Rail Pass lasting more than 7 days would not be profitable but, on the contrary, would significantly increase the cost of your journey.

What is a Japan Rail Pass?

The Japan Rail Pass is a special train pass for foreign travelers visiting Japan. This pass allows unlimited travel for 7 or 14 consecutive days on all Japan Railways (JR) trains throughout Japan.

With your Japan Rail Pass in hand, all you have to do is go to the station, show your Pass to the controller at the entrance gates and board any JR train. Details in your travelog.

The Japan Rail Pass does not cover (which are not included in your offer):

    • Subway and buses in Tokyo and Kyoto (you can pay by prepaid transportation card, optional)
    • Private lines (that are not JR)
    • Transfer station ↔ hotels (by foot, bus, taxis or subway)
    • Nozomi and Mizuho (very quick Shinkansen)
    • Train journeys done outside of pass validity

As of October 11, 2022, Japan opens its borders to all European citizens (including the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland) and North Americans (Canada and the United States) without requiring a visa.
